Question regarding Toyota Park Assist- 2017

I'm a long time lurker... did a search for this topic and couldn't really find what I was looking for. I apologize if this has been covered in the past. My truck (2017 TRD off road) was recently rear ended and was therefore in the shop for about a week. They had to replace one of my blind spot sensors and told me they needed to recalibrate all of the sensors on my truck.

I'm back in my truck now and it seems to be doing some stuff it never did before. Primarily the issue I'm having is when I am at a red light (or sitting in a drive-thru)... With the transmission in drive, and the truck at a standstill, the vehicle displays my parking sensors and starts beeping at me like crazy. It's never done this before. All that I've been able to find through toyota is for Tundra's however I'd imagine their functionality is similar. It states that the vehicle should only activate park assist when in the transmission is in drive if the front sensors detect near collision. My truck doesn't even have front sensors.

I've taken the vehicle back to the shop that did my repair work and they're telling me everything is functioning properly and I feel like I'm losing my mind. They swear they've had multiple companies and a toyota service manager tell them everything is normal. This is a fairly large company here in Austin so I don't think they're just screwing around with me. They've offered to turn park assist off however say that causes the truck to no longer beep when detecting rear cross traffic in reverse or when reversing in general and an object is nearby. My truck has always done these things. Am I crazy? Any advice?

TL/DR: Toyota park assist seems to be on the fritz and is active when my vehicle's transmission is in drive and another vehicle approaches. It never did this in the past prior to this company replacing a rear sensor and recalibrating. The beeping drives me nuts.

 

There is a setting to enable/disable parking sensors when in drive. You can change it in Carista and probably with techstream.

This is the option in Carista:

Enable rear parking sensors when in neutral or forward gear
REAR / REAR CORNER / OFF

Sorry if this is a silly questions- Is Carista a third party app? I'm not familiar with it. I assume there isn't a way of adjusting these settings through stock toyota menu? Thank you for your response. I really appreciate your insight.

 

Yes, Carista is a third party app and requires a subscription to make most changes. I don't know of a way to make those changes through the stock head unit. The shop that calibrated it should be able to make those changes for you. For Carista you would also need a bluetooth OBDII plug compatible with your phone. I use this one:
