My truck (2015 2.7L) recently started making a grinding noise when i accelerate above 1500RPM but goes away around 1800RPM. Its very loud and I can't find the problem with it. It only makes the noise when the truck is moving. I uploaded the video to youtube and I'm wondering if you guys have had this issue before.

Taddy, I'm afraid we can't talk anymore. The $1.99 a minute really adds up. My phone bill was 700 bucks the other day and my wife's pissed...guess I'll have to find someone else to talk about sports or barbeque with...

You know what that sounds like? My 08 did something very similar to that for a long time. Is it a rattle or a grind because mine had a rattle.

It was the exhaust heat shield on the first cat and just like you described, it started over 1500 and under 2000 for me.

There's a clamp in there that holds it over the pipe that rusts out. I took it out and put the heat shield back on. Now it's fine.

Ummm... fuck?! Does the sound seem more front or rear?! Maybe mid and heat shields like @whiteknight4x4 said!

I'll take a look tomorrow. I was reading some other posts with the same issue and it seems to be related to the heat shield. I'll let you guys know if that's the problem

Mine was similar but more of a rattle (same RPM) replaced the first heat shield and required bolts/nuts/clamp.

Check exhaust shield, I had that issue too. It only did it in fourth at all speeds for me.

This chart is it exactly. My bolts were totally rusted to crap, so was the clamp that causes the rattle. I just tossed the clamp and put it back together with some bolts and nuts I had laying around.

Also check your big reflective heat shields under the body of the truck. I've read about people's coming loose and hitting the drive shaft and stuff. Yours sound is similar to how mine was, it just sounds louder than mine did.

Identical heat shield problem here, bolts rusted, 2013 2.7. I bent a metal coat hanger into a circular clamp and clipped off the ends after I got it on.

Yep. same, it was heat shield about 1.5 years ago. It was way worse then this - got fix it ASAP, mine was a rusty bolt.

I know for a fact this is a heat shield. I had the same issue last fall and it would only rattle above a certain RPM. Mine sounded like the frame was about to fall off. Mine was just a rusted bolt that got loose and fell off.

Scrubbed some tires, and knocked a dent out.
Have you checked your' heat shields?

I had the same thing happen in a grand marquis. Mine was a heat shield in the engine bay.

Not yet. It just started doing it yesterday. From reading this and other posts, it seems like a good place to start. I'll let you know how it goes.

    Thanks.

I can't find anything that's obviously broken or loose when I go under the truck.
