Problem is in California you'll probably fail your smog inspection with this on.

Easy to buy a replacement hose and swap for the visual inspection.

"visual inspection" - what a joke. You should be able to lock your hood. It supposed to be about "emissions"......right?

I completely disagree with you on that one. Most of the modifications that generate more emissions are done under the hood, like intakes, fuel lines, flex fuel setups, forced induction upgrades, headers, down pipes with or without cats, etc. I love that Oregon only checks OBD2 readiness because in California it was a lot more stressful. They should be checking the tailpipe, like they used to, to verify pollution levels.

I thought they stopped vis and tailpipe checking? Maybe that was WA.

So to refresh everyone’s memory here’s the paint protection film I installed a couple of months ago:
    FD060219-00CD-4E60-9D30-0F77347FDBC0.jpg

I’m not able to really answer your question of whether the paint differentially fades because I haven’t removed it. But what I HAVE noticed is that the PPF itself is fading. Notice the horizontal line between the protected area below vs unprotected above. Sorry, lousy photos, it’s been freezing rain and snow last night and today here in Badlands National Park.

here’s a vertical line where thenPPF ends

I didn’t have a tailpipe inspection for at least 15 years and I moved out of California in 2017. I did have AWD vehicles which kept me off of single rollers that I seem to remember them using previously.

Here in Georgia the state checks nothing unless you live in Atlanta or maybe one of the surrounding counties. Emissions checks are the bane of poor people.

Emissions inspections are a perfect example of government bureaucrats wasting our money and time. Emissions requirements are imposed on manufacturers of new vehicles and that’s all that should be required. At least NC counties that require emissions inspections exempt new light duty vehicles for 3 years, I just had to have a safety inspection.

Buffed out a bunch of my off-roading, rocky mountain pinstriping last weekend and added a couple coats of Turtle Wax Ceramic Coating for the winter....truck is soooo shiny now! I almost prefer it dirty and scratched up.

I never was a fan of turtle wax products, until they came out with the ceramic spray. That stuff is awesome. Goes on well buffs off easily, and it smells good to boot!

No safety inspection in CA. I am originally from NY and the safety inspection was tough. Smog inspection is much less intrusive.

Today - Installed some Diode Dynamics SS3 Sport Yellow Fogs. Need to go for a spin tonight and check em out in the dark. Aligned/leveled to match stock beam pattern on my garage door.

NC emissions inspections they just run tests to check OBDII codes, quit doing exhaust emissions tests years ago. I had a 2007 Chevy Colorado P0017 code and could not get it to pass, truck ran fine, didn’t use too much oil or smoke, but 2 mechanics said camshaft play was too much and the best way to fix it was to install another engine. Traded it in on my Tacoma. I could afford it but someone who didn’t have much money would have been hosed just over a code. Bureaucrats and politicians suck.
