We've been tuning my buddy's RX-7 so I can see real-time coolant temps as we drive on the lap top. New engine, heavily boosted and it runs around 185 to 190, idling and moderate driving. Dip into 15 lbs of boost and bang on it for awhile and she'll climb to 215+ or so.

This Tacoma is the first vehicle I’ve had in a while with an engine driven fan. Guess I’m used to electric fans keeping the engine cooler in stop and go.

The Taco's cooling system is pretty robust. I wouldn't worry much. Regular DAFs of the radiator will keep things healthy

I don't know. He has an aftermarket radiator that sits in the stock position and uses the stock fans. In addition to that we installed an intercooler fan. Even though it's job is help dissipate charge heat it pulls in the same direction as the stockers. So it basically supplements the stock fans....as a byproduct, not it's purpose.

At idle we can watch the coolant temps drop 3-5° when we turn it on.

Does the stock fan kicks on at the right temperature?

Someone I know had a over heating issue on there RX7. Turn out to be a air pocket. The owner bleed the coolant system over a dozen times still with over heating issue. His buddy a Mazda tech said that these were a pain if you get air in the system.
