Yeah, I'm curious if the rear is bouncy.

 

If you have added weight from a RTT and realistically other gear, you are probably best off swapping out the stock leaf for a new leaf pack. It'll be worth the money in the long run.

 

Yeah you're probably right plus it's probably quicker to swap out leafs instead of having to dissemble and add aal. Just not sure if I can justify the cost since I'm getting rid of my Taco in a couple of years. But now you got me thinking since I can always sell the dakar leafs on here when I no longer have the Taco.

 

Add a leaf is going to be an easier install than the whole pack.
But easy install either way.
I'd suggest icons if you have lots of weight or want more lift than 2"

or you could leave them on the taco when you sell it or better yet, you could not sell the taco

Make sure you put the leaf springs with the little clips nuts out. Away from gas tank.

The aal is very good! No more bounce it stiffened it up perfectly.

anyone order from wheelers or headstrong recently? status of their inventory and how long it took to receive their kits?

 

Ordered mine from Headstrong with a Deaver AAL on Oct 9, was delivered to me on the 16th. At the time the Deaver was the only AAL in stock, but I'm sure Marie @HeadStrong Off-Road could update you on that

 

Eibachs plus Dakar med pack. A little higher than I expected. Drives more like a really nice Jeep now—stiffer but tracks straight. Did not do UCAs yet. 300+ highway miles tomorrow should be a good road test.

265 70 17 BFG KO2–31.6” officially. They’ve done really well for us so far.

 

Why are you all measuring from the center of the hub and not the ground? What is the difference?

 

Measuring from the ground can vary from vehicle to vehicle due to tire/wheel size. So it's more information folks would need to post to be clear about the change in height they experienced. Since the hub is a fixed point of reference, measuring from the center will always give accurate numbers regardless of tire/wheel size.

 

Just an update on my truck. I feel like it has settled. It doesn’t look super high in a way although I’m not 100% sure. Another thing I noticed a couple days ago was a loose washer on top of each strut. Would these washers feeling loose be a sign of the suspension settling? I was told a re-torque would be a good idea after some miles on the new kit. Is this why? Has anyone had this happen before?

 

I believe that you need to retorque after 200 miles. I used a metal marker and marked all the nuts to see if they moved. BTW. after 100 miles my truck now sits at 2.5 inches so it settled down from 4" finally I'll post pics once the AAL arrives and gets installed.

 

Glad it settled down. Super smart with the metal mark to check if nuts shifted. I really should check as I've not looked at it after installing it a year ago and after 3k long road trip. Just being lazy and waiting to lift my rear which then I'll check.
