I've decided to paint my FJ wheels. They are gray now. I'm thinking about silver from a rattle can. I'm sure the paint won't match. Do you think it would look bad?

If y'all talk me out of silver, I'm going to paint them black.

What color do you think I should go with?

if they are the factory gunmetal color, sell them and make some $$$ on the deal since they are so hard to come by. then buy a set of the silver ones and powdercoat them any color you want (or keep them silver). The money you make on the gunmetal set may cover the cost of powdercoating and that way you'll know the finish will last longer than what you'll get from a rattle can. It's just a thought. =)

Well, against the advise of everyone I'm still going to paint them. Mainly, because when I asked the question, I had already sanded and primed my center caps. :D So there was no going back.

I painted the center caps black. I used extra bedliner paint that I had left over. Then I painted the letters with color matched silver (touch up paint).

    What do y'all think?

I'm going to paint the wheels black and maybe add some silver somewhere else.

Well since you already painted the center caps might as well finish the wheels in black, but personally I think you are ruining a perfectly good set of very sought after wheels that you could of sold for a few hundred dollars + traded for some TRD off road rims and then just painted those.

Yeah, if they were in mint condition, I probably would have done that. But, one wheel has two bad chips in the paint and another one was hit by a lady (I call her crackhead) in a pontiac. The damage was less than my deductible.

So, my thought was, to paint them since I could never really get used to the gunmetal color and I can't afford to have them powder coated.
