if you are set with jl go to progressive auto sounds in aiea. they will build a custom box spec to the sub and space you have available. there are other slim subs such as rockford, pioneer, re, image dynamics id or idq and kicker. there are many choices out there, but you have to listen to them yourself because every has their opinion on what sounds good or slams hard.

yeah stuff online is cheaper. probably could buy your subs online and maybe find a shop to build you a box built to spec so you can get most out of your subs. if you go to car stereo express you can get a pre fab truck box for your subs.

id suggest calling around too. that way you can see if they're in stock or not. not too sure if they carry them more regularly, but i had to call about half a dozen shops before i could find one, but this was when they first came out. i bought mine for $400 out of a shop in kailua.

you can run as much or little power you want. the installation and tuning is the key of a good sounding system. i've heard systems with a few hundred watts running that sound better than a thousand watt system. if you go to a stereo shop they will work with you to get a system to your liking with your budget.

The max rms is 600watts. If I were you I would run 500 watts to each sub.

rms is the continous output your amp can handle. the max is the highest it can reach for a few seconds at a time. when you are looking for an amp look for the rms rating that matches what ohm your subs/speakers will be. you can always buy a stronger amp and turn down the gains so you won't blow your speaker, but have the power there if you want it.

Max watts is just an advertising feature. If the amp is 1500 RMS that would be pretty decent for those subs... although maybe a bit too much. 750 watts per sub is over its max but you can turn down the gain and most amp manufactures exaggerate the watt ratings. Hope it helped

it's all personal preference and experience. just make sure the amp fits your ohm load, budget, size contraints (if there any) and electrical system.

I would go with a Rockford Fostgate. I have heard great reviews on how they can put out so much watts without heating up. Also you might want to look into a JL amp. The JL speakers like mine is a dual 1.5 ohlm independence so I pretty much needed the 1000/1 amp.

Honestly I've never used a bass controller on the amp. I set it up the way I want on the amp and turn the bass up and down on the head unit. I have an Alpine 9886 so I can control the level of the subwoofer. I don't think you need it.
