Eh, evrey person will tell you this, but more money is just another heap of BS. I used to think if I had 50k I would be set, then I hit that and it was 75k I would be fine, I hit that, then 100k and life would be easy, hit that, then 150k..... Took me until 36 to realize money isn't everything and time away from work and no stress means everything.

That's my philosophical almost middle aged advice to the youth for the day.

    So, fucking, true.

I just got a raise and change in job position last month, and at the same time, I'm looking at downsizing even more to step down to a job that pays less, requires less time at work, and allows me the flexibility to enjoy more Me time.

I tried that at my last employer and I couldn't move down so I quit. Now I'm at a job level "lower", make a little less money, but in a far cheaper area, better company culture and loving life so far. Took an audit of what's important in life and I realized making almost $200k wasn't it, my QOL was horrendous!

    No shit

I'm wanting to both move down in position and move into an area that's cheaper to live in.

Fortunately I don't have bay area cost of living here, and my salary gets me ahead here but the amount of time put into work just isn't worth it.

Once the car is paid off....really in a few months cause I only owe like 3k, I'll start to look at work in a different field. Making +150k/yr is fun and all but taxes suck a shit ton as a single person with no dependents.

In my specific area, not really.

Bay Area, a 1 bedroom can cost you 4-5k a month.

Here its 1.5k-2k so more than half the cost.

It's why I said I'm ahead and the house is paid off; the amount of hours I work isn't worth it though.

Cost of living fluctuates greatly depending where in CA you are.

Yes, but again people think CA, and automatically think LA and SF Bay Area.
