Well if it’s possible to get 13” of travel I’d rather get a 14” shock and not have to worry about using the shock as a limit strap :notsure:

I’d also think that maxing out your leaf pack would be preferred over maxing out the shock.

You don't want your leaf pack to lock out when it gets over extended on the trail, that's gonna make for a bad day. When @desertjunkie760 did my install we were able to cycle the rear with everything in place and then he was able to properly setup the shocks for my specific circumstances.

Well if your locking out your leaf pack via the shackle then that’s the shackle or shackle hangers fault. Archives V1 shackles were bad about that. At that point you still don’t want the shock limiting your leaf spring travel.

You'd want to cycle the pack to be sure, but most OEM geometry packs struggle to make 12" of travel. You can also use limit straps to protect the shock (always a good idea)

Depends on application. Do you run limit straps on the front suspension because your shock is also the limiting factor there? You're not going to damage a Fox 2.5" Factory Race shock by using it as a limit strap on a truck that isn't bombing the desert. If you do, something is wrong with the setup. An expo rig won't have this issue.

Hell, do you run limit straps on your current setup? The factory shock is the limiting factor in factory rear suspension Too.

Bumps stop don’t limit overextending your downtravel.

Why does it have to be uptravel? You could just be losing out on downtravel. I've installed a couple archive/14" set ups and we didn't limit uptravel in any way. The leafs just don't take full advantage of all the droop, but it's nice to squeeze out as much as possible vs limit downtravel with straps to protect the shocks.

All that aside, I'm happy with my 12" setup. Flexes just fine offroad.

All good. Regardless this kit if set up right probably outperforms most mid travel setups anyways haha

I'd give my input on the 14" shock debate but mine is far from what AG even had envisioned. With my 63s and the shackle geometry and where I have the shock relocate set and lower shock mount set I can shove a 16" shock and cycle all of that shock and then some. My shock is my limiting factor in both droop and bump. I don't think there is an exact perfect you need to do this because once you start getting into shock relocates and such it really is to the point of match it to your set up vs go based on what others tell you. That being said companies like AG have a lot of data from a bunch of different set ups to get you close and you can look at those as a starting point.

Not sure if it’s been asked... lower shocks mounts still need welding won’t they? So at that point, might as well weld everything for proper strength

Yeah they’re longer, so the lower mount just gets clocked down a little bit. Again, the bump stops haven’t had to be moved or spaced out or limited up travel in anyways on the few I’ve done. And I’ve verified they’re not bottoming out prematurely.

Yes where ya'll with the go fast may ende up wanting to set them up to have over 50% bump we set them up where it's from 50/50 to 70/30 droop/bump.

    Everything TW members recommend
The beauty of this lower shock mount is that it is fully adjustable by just clocking the lower mount higher or lower.
I can possibly see me adjusting this if I change leaf packs and/or leaf shackles.

@Arcticelf , would it be possible to just order 2 axle mounts, one for each side and not the upper half? Can you PM me a price if this is possible?
