Been reading quite a bit and was wondering if anyone has jailbroken their iphone 4 with the 4.1 OS. It seems the only two programs out there for 4.1 is Limera1n and Greenpois0n, anyone tried these? Anyone had problems with either of these? It seems easy enough to do but don't know which one to go with. Thanks.

A teathered jailbreak for 4.2.1 is out now. (redsn0w)

I have done it. It sucks being teathered, but everything works well, and apple now allows everyone to use "Find iPhone" for free without paying for mobileme.

I ended up jailbreaking earlier today with Limera1n and i can't put the phone down. There is sooooo much more you can do with the phone. It was super easy and had no problems. Only thing is Cydia runs a little slow, but overall i am pleased.

No i'm still running 4.1. I didn't find much need to update with what they came out with.

Go to limera1n.com. Download either Mac or Windows, save to desktop. Open it up, connect phone, click "make it rain",follow the instructions. Takes about 5 mins. Oh yeah, you need the latest version of itunes. PM me if you got any questions.

    Did some research:

-As of right now, there is only tethered jailbraking. Apparently this is a bit risky, but I don't understand why at the moment.
-Cydia (the jailbroke app store) doesn't work in 4.2 yet
-Current 4.2 jailbreak solutions sometimes disable GPS
-limerain, greenpoison, etc, are only updated to 4.1

    I suggest waiting.

I have been running 4.2 and been jail broken for a week or 2. Here are my answers to your comments above.

    - The jailbreak for 4.2 (called Redsnow) is not risky , just tethered. Tethered means that after you JB your phone it will be JB as long as you do not reboot the device. If you reboot while JB it reverts back to an non-jailbroken state with all of your JB apps not working. *(depending on which JB apps you install you may be stuck at the Apple logo after rebooting).

To fix it you have to plug it into your computer and run the JB software again. Very simple, but if you are away from your house or computer and for some reason you reboot, you may be stuck at the Apple logo until you return home and run the JB software.

Over the past 2 weeks I have installed dozens of JB apps and legit App store apps and I have not had to reboot. I had 1 game crash on me while playing and freeze the phone which required me to reboot. Fortunate I was at home.

    - Cydia works just fine with 4.2
    - I have not noticed any problems with GPS (not sure where you saw this issue).
    - The 4.2 JB (called Redsnow) uses the limera1n exploit to JB all devices, but with the iPhone4 & iPad its teathered.

If you are like me and you have many JB apps that you love and cannot live without, then I think using the teathered JB is worth it. If the slight possibility of being away from home with a not working phone is unacceptable for you then do not update to 4.2 and JB.
