tow package bumper vs non tow package

hey will i be able to mount a non tow package bumper onto my truck that has the tow package? i plan to tow often, however i do not ever plan on using the bumper to tow, just the lower receiver.

Honestly not sure there is a difference between the bumpers.

 

heard that one mount straight to the trailer hitch (tow package) and one mounts to the body with a bracket (non tow).

hopefully it works.

 

I revise my statement, you're correct. The tow bumper DOES use the hitch assembly as the mount. I'm not sure how the non-tow version mounts though. I'd assume some brackets of some sort.

Edit: Yep, different brackets to mount the non-tow package bumper, but the actual bodywork piece itself is the same.

Looks like 52015-04010 and 52016-04010 are the part numbers you need for the non-tow brackets if you dont get the toyota class 4 hitch assembly.

 

If anything, those little caps that go over the bolts under the license plate may be different.
I think they bolt to the hitch? You don’t really need them, they just covet the bolts.
