A 5th OR wheel I got for 5 tire rotation at LKQ came with a TPMS valvestem in it. Don't know if I got lucky or that's typical

Now that I have a 5th wheel in my bed for 5-tire rotation all 4 on the pressure screen are "---" and has been for a few days... but the pressurized pipe that's clever.

Yeah we’ve done a few around here. So I might as well do it while I put new tires on.

    @ACEkraut

did you seal it up completely or use a clean out plug. I’m making one with a plug

I tried multiple times to get a clean out plug to seal and handle 30lbs of pressure. All I did was make a mess. I couldn't get 5 pounds of pressure to hold by screwing in the clean out plug without anything on the threads so I tried the thread dope and finally gluing it. They all leaked, some worse than others. I finally decided that there really was not much chance I would need the sensors again and that if I did then I wouldn't need the PVC pipe any longer so why not glue it for a strong, air tight enclosure. I will just cut the PVC pipe open if I need to get to the sensors. Just make sure you glue it well and let it sit long enough to cure before pressurizing it. Ask me how I know that pressurizing it too soon blows a hole in the glue and lets air leak out. :anonymous:

After all was said and done I spray painted mine black and threw it under the seats and have forgotten about it. Of course that means if you get a nail in your tire and it goes down to 15 lbs that you need to pay attention to that....(ask me how I know that also).

Maybe you are a better man than I am and if you figure out a way to get a clean-out plug to work then please let me know. But I would save the slight expense and just get the pipe and two end caps and go to town. (And of course the tire valve as well)

Thanks. I just got it a try. My batteries are running low in my sensors So I’ll experiment with my old ones and when I get my new ones I’ll know what to do

I am not sure about wheels, but here is my cheap tire story. I decided on Pirelli AT Plus, 265/75R16. Discount Tire had them for $188, about the same as most online retailers. Walmart had them for $157. Sent proof to Discount Tire, they lowered their price to $154. Sent that price to my local Town Fair Tire. They matched it. Cost about $150 for install and front-end alignment. I believe they sell new TPMS. I know they sell wheels.

All that said, not sure what you mean by "cheapest." But it may be worth a look on Walmart since they do run some very attractive prices.

Thanks for the input! I bought new tires and wheels online, and I was having a hard time finding a shop to install them. A few that I have gone to only install tires that you buy from their store. So that's good to know TFT does install tires you bought online, I will give them a try!

    leaks.... slightly

    but, I know why..

when you hit it with air you can actually feel the pvc expand which
Expands the threads causing a leak.
A cap actually seals tighter because it’s on the outside of the tube and as it
    expands it gets tighter.
If a o ring seal was able to be put in the right position I think that would solve the issue however
the physical measurements make that impossible.
So, a few ideas I have still but now I know what I have....

Welcome! I’m from Topsham. I put a light bar in my bumper and just used the bottom holes in the license plate with the same holes in the bumper. Essentially it was mounted by the top holes to the bumper and I just moved it up so now it’s attached by the bottom holes. I assume it’s legal and won’t cause problems? I haven’t noticed any problems and it was free to do in 5 minutes. I Have a 2012

As long as you don't turn it on while you're driving on a public road, it's legal.
Which basically means you can use it on the road, just not if there's any other cars around.

Lol I meant the plate placement. I don’t think the bar is technically legal to use on road at all
