Anyone know the best way to make my 2 WD 06 Tacoma limited slip?

Is it just a matter of ordering a part for my differential ? Or is there an aftermarket mod? Is is possible?

    Welcome to Tacoma World! :)
If your truck is not equiped with an LS diff already, then you would have to have one put in.

What does that entail ? Just ordering a gear from toyota and putting it in my differential? Or is it more involved?

Its more involved than that. Most LSD's replace the entire carrier and pinion gears, which means you have to separate the axels from the truck, pull the third member, then remove the open diff assembly, and reinstall the LSD assembly. Im over simplifing it, but if you have never done it before, its best done by someone who knows how to do it.

Every where I went it was. I found one shop that charges a flat $75 hour at approx 5-6 hours and two bearings are needed.:(

Try a junk yard, er.....ummmm, excuse me, a RECYCLING yard. See if you could get one that has a LS in it. Ask the guy if he'll take yours in trade with a little cash to add. If it's the same year(s) it should be an easy swap.

On an LS diff, better to get new, as the friction plates may be worn out.

Thanks for the info guys. It looks like the DET911A565 will do the trick-- looks expensive though.

Actually if you go to Detroit's website they dont make one for the 2wd. The website that is selling them has the info in error. If you go to the Summit Racing website , they have the correct data.

Looking for a rear end assembly, but everyone want $1000-$1200. I don't need anti slip that bad. If I could get one for 400-500, I would think about it.

Well, after googling "Detroit Truetrac LSD 913A541" The cheapest I found is 436.00 However, Its a 10 bolt assembly, and after crawling under my truck I found that mine has 12  I guess i'll have to wait to see if they'll make one that fits.

The (vendor?) listing that claimed it's a 10-bolt assembly must be wrong.

Detroit lists the 913A541 for the '8.4' differential, which is a 12-bolt ...
