Just so you know, it won't be plug and play. Jbl headunitst require some sort of amp, and it is a 2020 model headunit which has different connections.

Not sure where you get your information from but the jbl headunit doesn’t require an amp lol

    From here:
A couple of others have mentioned the same thing.

Either way, @Tacoma XSP wouldn't be able to use your headunit on his Tacoma, without a 2016-2019 to 2020 Entune harness, AND the JBL amp/signal processor and wiring.

So have anyone on here have successfully went from a 2016-2019 Entune headunit to the new 2020-Present Entune headunit? I understand that you would need a harness to get the OEM USB port to work and a harness to get a 2020-Present headunit to work on a 2016-2019 Tacoma.

I’ve done it for the head unit without integrated nav. So have two other folks on the thread.

If you buy it from infotainment and certain eBay sellers, they will sell you a kit with everything you need.

If you get a donor head unit then you need two harnesses, one for usb and one for everything else. Autoharnesshouse can make the one for everything else, he might have the USB adapter by now too, not sure.

I’m still working with him on the right harnesses for getting integrated nav working (the plugs are hard to get). If you’re getting your donor unit from a wrecked 2020 you can clip the harness out, and probably get it working - we think we know the wiring.

Thanks for your input. So the integrated nav do not work so far. Can you still get nav via Android Auto and Apple Car Play?

CarPlay works fine if you connect the usb harness. I assume Android Auto would as well.

Just installed my 2020 unit and unfortunately GPS and android auto doesn't work (carplay works). Annoyingly, android auto needs the clock to work (I get an error message saying something along the lines of "the time on my phone and the time on the radio don't match so it can't display") and the clock doesn't work cause it needs GPS signal.

Got this headunit from a wrecker, bought the harness from Autoharnesshouse and thought I would be good to go. What additional harness is required?

Been through several posts about doing the conversion and have one final question before pulling the trigger so I’ve finally joined TW.

Have a 2018 Sienna HU I found, contacted autoharnesshouse and he’s going to make me a new harness. BUT being a Canadian truck using a US HU is there a potential for me to have issues when I start everything up for the first time? I just saw on another post with all the 2020 part numbers the for Nav and Non Nav HU’s there are US and Canadian part numbers... I don’t care so much about the Nav side of things as the main reason I’m doing this is for CarPlay and found this to be the cheapest way of doing so (even compared to aftermarket).

I don’t think it will make much of a difference using a US HU in Canada. Might be some APPs or weather/traffic functions that are visible but dont work cause they aren't support up here, but that is just speculation as I have no idea.

One thing to note, as I said in my previous post, I have a 2020 HU in my 2018 but the nav function doesnt work which means the clock isn't working cause I'm missing a harness. So I can't use android auto (needs clock time to match my cellphone's time). Carplay does work so that might not matter for you but it is annoying that the clock is just dashed lines for everyday use.

damn yeah I can see that driving me mental after awhile. He is at least working on the new harness for the Nav. I’ll have to find out from the seller if it was a Nav unit or not. I’m wondering if it is a non Nav if it will just have an internal clock anyways and it may not even matter.

So if you install the new head unit you can not use waze or any gps apps through car play?

I think you can disable GPS time sync for the clock and manually sync it. Does that work around the problem?

There are several different head units for the 2020’s, importantly with and without integrated nav. The adapter auto harness house makes is for the unit without the integrated nav.

To get units with integrated nav units working, looking at the docs on the TIS, we think we need power and a couple other wires connected to the nav box (plus the nav box connected back to the main head unit). This is what he’s been helping me with, but last I heard he was still trying to source pins for the connectors.

If you got it from a wrecker, you pulled the nav box, you clipped the wiring harness from the wreck, and you’re up for a bit of experimentation, you can probably make the last bit yourself from the wrecked harness and splice it into the auto harness house adapter.

    Thanks for the reply

I tried to change the clock sync settings but couldn't. I think the headunits with integrated nav require GPS for time (no option for manual time), the stock Nav unit my truck came with was the same but I will give it another shot and report back.

I bought an entire headunit with integrated nav (radio plus nav unit) from a recycler/wrecker, (came from a wrecked 2020 Tacoma) but I didn't pull it myself, it was just sitting in their warehouse so I didn't have a chance to cut any harnesses. Mine came with zero wiring. I was able to buy the coax harness that goes BTW the radio and the nav module but that made no difference.

I've contacted autoharnesshouse and he said he would be able to make the additional harness I need but it would take time. Im hoping he comes through cause otherwise this headunit is useless to me.

This is currently what I have wired up. GPS antenna is in and coax to the main headunit (transmit images ?) but there is a black socket thats empty, I'm thinking a connector needs to go here to power the nav module?

Under clock settings I can turn off "Auto Adjust by GPS" but that doesn't let me set the time manually. No matter what I select, the time remains dashed out

Update: Got an email from autoharnesshouse saying he's got everything he needs and will be building the additional harness I need this week. I'll post results when I get it.

I've also been talking with autoharnesshouse recently. I ended up buying a Non-nav 2020 radio for very cheap and AHH is making a conversion harness and usb harness for my 2019. I am giving up the nav that I currently have but this radio I purchased was such a deal I couldn't pass it up, plus I intend to use Android auto as I never used the built in nav, ever.
