Just successfully updated my 09/2019 built 2020 6AT from 04B80 to 04B81. Used the T-0023-20 file on this thread, thank you to those that posted it. I didn’t have any prior complaints, so I can’t speak to any improvements. I thought I would share some details of the flash process, specifically battery voltage.

Concerned about ensuring the minimum 11.8V, I had a DMM on the battery terminals and a large old school battery charger with selectable charge limit of 10A and 30A. With the ignition on - engine off (all accessories and lights off) at the 10A setting the DDM had 12.33V and CUW reading 12.1V and it was slowly dropping as I watched it for 10 min. I switched to the 30A setting for some margin, which brought the DMM to 14.45V and CUW reading 14.1V sending in roughly 18A. It would seem a good idea to be using at least a 15A if not 20A capable charger during a flash.

For reference, I have Techstream V15.20.21 with CUW 8.30.213, Drew Tech MFC2 cable.

Interesting point. I got my cable as we were heading out for the weekend. Hoping to flash my 2016 next week. I have a battery charger but it’s not super beefy. I wonder what my chances of bricking are. I did replace the stock battery with an optima but it’s not a North Star.

    Good info!

I recently did a flash and TS wouldn't proceed due to battery voltage. I tossed on my jump pack and did not hit boost mode. It did just fine for the duration of the flash.

I just use a battery maintainer that can do 12v power supply mode. Battery voltage is either stable or slowly rising while flashing.

What model? That mode is not too common for all but the high end. I read some brands have such high power draw during flashes that DIY people jumper cable them to a running vehicle.

Any of you know why Techstream V14.20.019 won't accept the registration code? Mine was working fine, but now it keeps asking me to register. I've uninstalled and reinstalled, went through the entire process, but when I put in the reg code i=the window just pops back up asking for it again.

    Help needed, thanks!

I had the same issue. I just reran the code generator portion again and entered the new code and it worked.

I found my error. I'm an idiot. I was typing a 1 instead of a 2... Less beer when playing with software...

So if we flash this update does it void our warranty?

Moreover, does this actually fix things?

No. It's a Toyota OEM file.

For the MT, 04B14 was a good improvement over stock 04B12 or 04B13.

    Good question!

It is Toyota software. But, if you brick your ECU, then you could be out of pocket if you need to buy a new one. That said, it is only a soft brick. The ones that have been reported were able to be bench flashed.

    Yes!

I've witnessed it going from 04B12 to 04B13 to 04B14. Folks have told me the same on the recent TSB. Beyond that, there are examples of this in most every page in this thread.
