Step 1: mask off area that you don’t want overspray on and clean off exhaust tip

Step 2: spray adhesive (not too heavy) and let dry for 30 minutes.
NOTE: after it dries it will still be sticky to the touch due to the fact it is glue and this is what the paint sticks to.

Step 3: spray paint. Wait 30 minutes

Step 4: 2nd coat and touch up.

Step 5: allow at least 3 hrs to dry before driving to avoid debris sticking to area. Allow a least 24 before going on dirt.

Step 6: enjoy the money you saved doing it yourself.

My experience when doing this.....paint usually burns right off. Even when i once tried their 2000 degree high heat it lasted only a few months.

Step 7. Start engine and drink beer until exhaust tip gets hot AF.
Step 8. Once exhaust tip meets hot AF threshold, piss all the finished work in hopes it cures into something that lasts longer than it took to create.

Worse case. I go to muffler shop and re purchase the magna flow in black this time. When I did it I had the chrome badges. But after I took everything off the exhaust didn’t match.

Spray adhesive? Interesting approach. I’d like to see this after a few hundred miles. Not to take a jab here, I’d really like to see the longevity of this.

    Today is 10/22/20. I’ll update on 11/22/20

black metal gets hot as hell too. Especially in the desert sitting in 116 all day. I used same method here on my tow hitch 4 months ago it still looks flawless. Also did my accord image.jpg image.jpg

I’m trying to avoid cutting the tip off and re welding it. If I’m going to do that route I’ll just buy a Black tip. This is for ppl without a lot of time , money or just want something they can do easy in a very short amount of time. It looks really good. My truck is clean as fuck. I wouldnt do something to make my truck look like crap83929899-59B4-4890-848C-4C11A7899AA2.jpg87201621-9447-4014-8E3F-8F50280A012D.jpg

    just saying...

Could somebody explain the use of spray adhesive as basically a primer? What is the advantage of using spray adhesive?

I also prefer the “come to a stop and a dipshit not paying attention” approach to painting my exhaust tip

Now that's a custom job. I'll see if I can't get tailgater to help me do something similar. It'll go well with my "those who don't give a shit" shopping cart dents and bumper rashes.
