I hate to be the bearer of bad news but, I don't hold much hope for them lifting anything.

    Did they close it?

It’s BLM so typically the least restrictive of the federal land management bureaus.

Now I’m also curious. Let me know if you figure it out!

    BLM's response to my email:

    Hello,
The Alabama Hills and the Tuttle Creek Campground, are open. Please visit https://www.blm.gov/visit/alabama-hills-national-scenic-area for more information.

We are currently in fire restrictions, which prohibits target shooting, fires, camp stoves/open flames (both dispersed camping and within a developed campground).https://www.blm.gov/press-release/b...eases-fire-restrictions-throughout-california

The best place to camp when visiting public lands is in a campground, and we currently have four that are open to the public. Please visit https://www.blm.gov/office/bishop-field-office where you will find information about our campgrounds on the right side of the page. Tuttle Creek campground is at the south end of the Alabama Hills, within the National Scenic Area, is $8.00 per night, and has amenities including restrooms, trash service, picnic tables and fire rings. If you choose to disperse camp, please practice Leave No Trace ethics and don't drive or park on vegetation.

Please stay up to date on the latest COVID-19, information can be found here https://www.inyocounty.us/
    Thank you.

A lot of National forests are implementing “zero ignition sources” right now.

I believe Stanislaus NF has lifted that ban in camp grounds.

Hey all! I'm in Utah and headed back towards home, Seattle, this week and next. We are trying to figure out camping situations with covid and fires in california. Are we totally fucked or are there some spots we could hit on the way up the coast? Was hoping to hang near south lake tahoe and ride bikes for a bit then work our way past sacramento and then up. Would love some insight on what's happening if you all got it. Just hoping to disperse camp in the truck on NF land if possible

No easy answers. We are headed into some additional hot weather this week prompting “fire watch” which could change things quickly. You’re gonna have to check for closures and fire bans-probably best regardless.

So between Lake Tahoe and sac you have Eldorado NF. I’d just check the NF website for camping Bans and Fire restrictions. Last time I checked they were allowing any fires or dispersed camping. Only Camping in designated camp sites.
