    Finished project :D

need to figure out a lighting situation. Have an outlet just outside this door and a wide enough gap to run a cord underneath it if need be.

I used a wide flat 1/2"washer from Home Depot to fix this on my grinder. Is the hole 5/8" or 1/2" ?

Is there possibly a piece missing for attaching the blade ? Not familiar with your particular saw but most come with a bolt and some type of washer arrangement

the bolt for the blade essentially has a “washer” under the bolt but it’s all one piece/welded together.

So I made a cane for my aunt out of walnut, purple heart, ash and oak dowels.

    DSCN2014.jpg

She loved it. Next time I saw her, there were a couple chips on the handle. I told her I wanted to fix it for her, she wouldn't let me, said she loved the wear and the use.
So I made her a cane that the handle would be indestructible - except to other things. Took the Estwing brick hammer, drilled out the handle, spent many hours sanding and smoothing, then made the ash and wenge handle, with a combo hammer handle/axe handle. It was nice hearing my aunt laugh. :)

Heh, heh, heh..... Some of my family says that too. How much should I ask ?

My sister says I could easily get $25 dollars o_O At that rate I guess I'd be getting about $4 or 5 /hr not including the time I spent in the woods looking for the right piece of wood ! :)

I also don't think I could cope with the people that at $25 would say.... Gee that's nice... will you take $15 ?

yeah that's the worst part of this hobby.
Make a table, friend sees it and asks for you to make him one, you tell him how much the raw lumber would cost for the table and they say, nah I can buy one at Ikea for cheaper

Yup. I was thinking about this today. You lose the personalization in mass produced stuff.20201024_121101.jpg
While similar each is slightly different

Some stuff. Not a lot, just some.
The key is to not make anything you can get at Ikea...it also helps if there is no Ikea in your area. :anonymous:

My neighbor asked my to make him some wooden discs out of some logs he had for his daughters wedding. I sliced the logs on the bandsaw to about 1.5" thick. I had to let them dry out a bit because they came off a live tree. They were reading over 25% moisture still. So they naturally cracked and warped a little bit. I ran them through the drum sander to flatten them all. That took days. Router sled would have been soo much easier.

Anyway, he finished them off with a couple coats of poly for good measure even though I had already sealed them up with arm-r-seal.

After the wedding he came over and said everyone took them home and they were wondering where they could get more. He said they were willing to pay $25-$30 a piece...for a wooden trivet.

Bumped into a "spoon guy" at one of those outdoor craft fairs a couple seasons ago whittlin' on a stick.
I was in awe of all that he had "done".... Nope, he buys wholesale by the case from overseas !

I ain't in it for the money. Good thing too, I couldn't pay the rent and the fun would go out of it when it turns into a J-O-B.
