What Have You Done To Your 2nd Gen Tacoma Today?

I've used it a couple times and it worked fine. I need to check the charge on it actually. Did he try to jump a completely dead battery? It wont. You have to hold down the manual "override" button for three seconds for it to work in those situations.

 

I don't know the particulars of the situation unfortunately, nor specifically what model he had or the state of his battery but I suspect it was fully dead.

Under hood lights because I had a long enough strip left over from rainbow puking my computer and I didn't use the controller, so why the heck not?

In white (Which shows up blueish on this camera) should be pretty handy.



I just waterproofed the controller with epoxy, and hardwired the 12 volt input eliminating the barrel connector.

I've had effectively the same setup for my bed lights for a couple years now. The greatest thing is you can still do rainbow puke rave strobe mode!

No. I didn't have navigation and had to buy a used radio (2015, because I wanted the clock on screen) and I had to to a lot of wiring.

 

Tried to put a temporary band aid on my split cv boot. Pumped in some grease, wiped it down with some rubbing alcohol, smeared a bit of silicone over the split and wrapped the whole thing in a few layers of exterior grade duct tape. Certainly not looking at it as a permanent fix, just need to try and get a week out of it until I can install a new axle next weekend.

I did some research and after talking to a few people that have them I was like ok for about the price I paid for all four of these you only get 2 of the other brands so I figured why not. Plus they gave me a military discount. After I installed them I went for a spirited offroad test drive at the softest setting (there are 8 settings at the turn of the knob) and they soak up bumps like nobody's business. They are solidly built with billet parts so it was no brainer. The front struts are also height adjustable. RC really stepped up their game with these.

 

The Daystar cradles on the axel/leafs keep you from having to bolt the bottom of the airbag to the same plate. So as your suspension flexes, the airbags are free to move with it. When it comes back down, the bags rest in the cradle to give you support again. I have Dakar medium duty leafs in the rear already so without any air in the bags they already rest above the cradle a little bit. You apparently need to have at lest 5lbs in the bags though. Don't know if this still applies with the cradles. Probably will give me a smoother ride anyway. Need to get a better tire gauge because the regular one can't read something that low accurately.

 

i bought one, and left it in my truck incase friends family or random people needed a jump.... after a hot summer in 2018 the battery literally popped open... sent it back and bought jumper cables instead. if your climate permits, these things are awesome... jus be wary of heat

The thing is pretty over built for the price, which I like. It is also designed to be integrated with the airbag system. ARB has been designing bumpers for a looong time on Toyotas too. The thing is on there good. 12 bolts from the mounting bracket to the frame and 10 bolts holding the bumper to the mounting bracket. The V4x4 does look really nice, I like how slim it is and it looks like you'll get a decent amount more approach angle compared to ARB. But that price point is kind of high for me to pull away from what you get with the ARB. Granted, the install was a hell of a process. Took me about 10 hours (including the winch) and I needed a buddy to help lift the thing up to be bolted on.

So far, the downsides to the ARB on the tacoma: 1) no tow hooks on it. This also doesn't give me anything to attach the winch hook to when Im not using it. 2) The factory tow hook is a bit less accessible with the splash plate installed. 3) The winch and bolts to other things that are installed on the bumper are hard to access once the bumper is on.

Awesome. I'm looking at a full OME lift kit for 1600 (includes UCA'S and full leaf packs) but I'm open to other ideas. Who gave you the discount? I wonder if Black Friday will have some good deals....
