Got a question for you man, how do you get your pics to upload "full-size" on here?

What I mean is, when Im on my laptop looking through this thread most peoples pictures fill maybe 2/3 of the screen width, with some dead space on the right. Yours are always much larger, filling essentially all the space the forum allows between the avatar on the left and the scroll bar on the right.

I dunno if I can give away the secret! ;)

Just kidding of course - there's no real secret. When photos get uploaded as attachments to TW, the TW servers resize them to something like 1024 or 1280px wide - for storage and bandwidth cost savings. Totally understandable. Since I use my photos in multiple places (here, on my blog, etc.), I have to host them somewhere, and so I use flickr to host them. Then, on TW, I just link to the photo on flickr... and so when TW serves up my post, they don't care about the bandwidth, and my larger-size photo gets displayed.

I should note that my methodology (which isn't really mine - others on here were doing it well before I was) doesn't work for all external image hosts. For a lot of them, TW actually scrapes the external host and transitions the image to TW servers, so that if the host ever "goes away" like photobucket, or the user cancels their subscription with the host (since most of them are paid), that the images in TW posts continue to work. That's a risk with flickr as well, but so far the mods have allowed it to continue being externally referenced. (And a big THANKS to any mods that read this!)

One more thing about flickr. It used to be free, but now it's like $50/year or something. As I mentioned, I need it for my own blog, so it's a cost I've already paid; might not be as good a solution for others who aren't currently paying.
