Value of a 2010 Tacoma with a bad frame?

Wow ungrateful much? Sounds like you brought to the right dealer since they're giving you a bunch of free stuff even though you completely failed to take any ownership in you buying a busted worn out truck without doing so much as looking under it before you bought it.

Butt hurt much? Purchasing a car from a dealer with the slogan “Driven By Trust” should be a good experience. I shouldn’t NEED to check the frame since that should be part of the safety check before listing the truck, unless they are fully disclosing the fact that it’s bad (which is CT law). I shouldn’t have to worry about big repair costs like this, especially when it has to do with the integrity of the vehicles safety. I have 60 days from when I purchased the car that the dealer must take responsibility and cover all repair costs that keep the vehicle mechanically safe and sound. Yet another CT law unless specifically disclosed as “AS IS”.

Just because you’d think to check the frame on every vehicle before purchasing doesn’t mean most will. If I was buying from a private seller these are things I’d make sure to do, but as a consumer I’d hope the dealer would be doing this things before listing and disclosing any possible issues that may be wrong with the car.

 

Don’t get me wrong. I’m happy that’s being done at no cost to me. Just heard a lot of people in the same boat that were given the opportunity to put parts they purchased on their vehicle without additional labor charges. That’s all. It was just a question. I’m not ungrateful, just was curious.

 

Looks like it will all turn out ok. And yes, maybe you shouldn’t have to check that stuff out, but consider yourself lucky, if that frame was in just a little better shape and didn’t qualify for replacement, you would likely be out of the 12 year window in a year and stuck with a crap frame. So regardless, it’s always worth looking at the frame of a Tacoma. Just because a dealer passes it doesn’t mean it’s good. Enjoy the new truck

So all said and done this is actually turning out pretty good! Makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside! Or maybe it's just the meds... Either way it sure sounds like the op is in a better place. Now you can enjoy the hell out of that truck. Lots of pressure taken off your shoulders I bet! Going from thinking you might have to sell it for "scrap" value to this has got to be such a relief!

Guess what though? There’s a reason why there are laws protecting consumers in situations like these.

 

You didn't disappoint me at all,just saying the next time you might not be so lucky not doing your own check of a vehicle before buying,never rely on what somebody else says,even a Dealer.
Trying the consumer law stuff takes time,better just too avoid it by doing your look over.

 

I'm having the frame replaced on a 2010 Tacoma w/ 170k miles. I just spent most of my $$ on the vehicle, and I'll be happy when it has a brand new frame.

If you were having the frame replaced what things would you also spend money on doing simultaneously. As mentioned it's a good opportunity to get some things improved. Any estimates on the budget for those?
