In laws coming to town totally fucks with your workout, sleep and diet schedule.

It’s a nice gesture but wife’s mom cooks non stop really and makes every plate for us. You can tell her no. But she does it anyway.

then they wanna spend time together after work rather than gym so fuck again lol. Andddd

    now

they’re used to staying up till 2-3am (because they don’t wake up will later) and that’s fucking me up too cause I’m used to being in bed by 8-9.

gonna rent a motel room until this baby is out and they’re gone. Fuck it.

Sounds like the name of a shitty metal band.

I met a guy about mile 19 that had a shirt that said on the back “Cancer survivor, twice replaced ankle, replaced knee, yes you can pass me too”. I talked to the guy for a few miles.
58 years old, lost 180lbs in the last 4 years, been through over 27 surgeries, survived COVID this year, and he does a fucking race like every weekend. He ran a trail marathon last weekend and was doing the trail marathon this race.

There are some pretty extreme folks out there, I learned I ain’t really one of them

This much older gal clocked me by mile 27. She had to be 70s at least. Shes like “be careful don’t fall, I’ve fallen 3 times.” Then hauled off.
Felt like a poser at that point lol

I feel like such a pussy compared to many other people out there.
    Thank you.
Can’t believe how much experience I have, and I was a total fucking rookie yesterday.

But it was fun. Well, mile 1-15 was.
It was a cluster. This race normally has like two DNFs per year. I’m waiting untill they post this years results to see how many they had. I saw 5 people walk off they got frustrated and did what I did and just blew up because they went out too hard.

Since I can’t take NSAIDs anymore my sports doc gave me a nice stack of muscle relaxors.

I didn’t want to pull a Whitney Houston so I asked myself if I wanted a beer or the muscle relaxors.

    The meds won out

Today I may have me a few beers watching the game.

Does everyone hate competing as much as I do?

You bust your ass then get all swollen and are so sore and exhausted you can’t move or do anything for days after. No bueno. Neccessary evil though.

Wondering if your comps beat you up as much?

How long does it take to be 100% after a power lifting or strong man comp?

My guess is this race will take minimum 3 weeks to recover from. 3-5 is probably a good window for most.

    Are yours that long?

    I love competition.

Depending on the comp I'll have around a week or so of just relaxing and easy lifts. Especially this January comp.... I got pretty banged up last time. It can get pretty brutal with every event being a medley and very heavy.

    I’m jealous.

I hate racing. Again necessary evil. I just hate sitting on the couch like I’m injured/sick.

I will probably be able to go for some easy short runs by Thursday but I wouldn’t be able to start training for something else for a monthish.

Probably will be able to lift super light next week. But even then still looking at 3 weeks until I can really lift with any serious effort.

I feel like with running racing really sets you back fitness wise.

If you are only out a week or two thats great. You aren’t losing any strength or progress between comps.

@Travish325 I’m weighing around 202-207 lately. Which is light. But I don’t have the solid frame built yet so I got a power belly going on.

I’m going to continue in strongman and sign up for more comps after mine.

but you know how the weight classes are.

is there anything to gain, in your opinion, by losing the excess fat and then try to build up muscle back to the 200lb class. (Eventually 231).

or just maintain my weight/cut slowly and do the whole “burn fat build muscle” at the same time thing?

Well yeah there is one thing to gain... Strength

Just depends where you want to compete at really. MW 231 class is super competitive but it depends if you can hold that size on your frame. Most 231 guys are like 5'11"-6'2" and actually 250-260lbs but they water cut to 231 to compete. So when they refeed for comp day they are way over 231.... Kinda puts you at a disadvantage trying to pack that weight on a small frame and being maxed out at 231 while they are 20lbs heavier and still "light".

LW and under 200.4 is a solid class and where you can still be strong and lean.

You could always bulk up to a strong 210-220 then water cut to 200.4 for comp day. Make weight, do an IV afterwards, and eat then you're back up to 215 come comp time.

Having said that... If you're plan is to lose fat then bulk only muscle all the way to 231lbs that's gonna be hard and a lot of work. Especially having a smaller frame. 231lbs and muscley on a corgi frame is pretty damn thicc

I gotcha. I’ve never cut weight for a comp so I’m like idk if I just wanna stay at my weight while trying to make strength gains or get bigger and cut. Like if there’s any advantage to stay in at the weight comfortably or if you feel like shit after cutting instead.
