Anybody else experience unusual wear on their seat fabric?

Just curious to see if anyone else has experienced unusual wear on their seats? I noticed my drivers side seat was starting to fray and wear a little more than normal... Its less than 10 months old and has less than 20 000 kms on it. I've already talked to the service manager and he has agreed to get me new seat fabric before i install my Wet Okole seat covers.

Curious to see if anyone else has had this problem?

 

Mine has a bit on the driver seat. It looks like its right above the part where you adjust the lumbar support. Seems to be coming from me getting in and out of the truck. Maybe pinching the fabric when getting out. I have a 3" inch lift with side steps, so maybe that could contributing to the excess. Kinda sucks, but there isn't much I can thing of to do.

 

That's weird, mine has worn much more on the seat bottom than on the back rest. If it gets worse, have a chat with your dealer.

 

The seat material is a pretty poor choice on Toyota's part but goes along with the dirt magnet material on the arm rests.
I'm pretty sure the design team has never used the truck as a truck and just picked pretty swatches from some catalog.

My 92 4runner had cloth seats and the seats looked far better when I traded it in after 16 years then my 08 looks now

 

Mine has some wear on the lumbar area from me getting in and out wearing a velcro underbelt. The velcro catches on the seat material in the 2nd gens and tears it up a bit. I wouldn't guess many people have velcro on their belts, or anywhere else, but I figured I'd throw that out there.

 

When you get into your truck do you slide in or do you have a slider/step bar that allows you to step into your truck. My seats were starting to show some wear, because of the way I entered my truck. Once I got my N-fab steps the wear has slowed down because I don't slide into the seat.

 

My 11 month of is showing some wear too. Looks like it would be caused by my wallet in my back pocket, but it's on the wrong side of the seat for that. Don't know how well it shows up in pictures.

Love how well this mesh fabric traps dirt.....

 

^^^^ thats exactly how mines wearing... but started only 6 months after ownership of a brand new truck!



FearNothing321, i do have sliders but i usually use the grab bar and pull up while sliding into the seat while simultaneously avoiding the slider from rubbing on my pant leg. Using the slider as a step can be a little annoying tho, since they are up closer to the cab than an actual step bar...

 

yeah...i bought my truck used had 22K on it and when i where dress slacks my back button would get hooked.....it was an easy fix though

dropped it off at a shop and had leather installed no more fabric

 

I set the lumbar where I like it then pulled the adjustment knob off and tucked it in the stow bin. Easy snap off/on and the black plastic shaft doesn't look all that bad unadorned by a knob. I can even turn it with out the knob if leaning forward a little!
