Holy chit, I've done a lot already!!
Like wise, butttt, the old school did not look nearly as nice. I feel I have a 4 runner, only better for my use.

I know the style isn't for everyone, but I love my Tradesman shell. Heavy duty aluminum, reinforced corners, insulated and carpeted. Toolbox for our cookware, and "windoors" all the way around.

I love the functionality of that!! The style is a personal preference, but you do have a nice setup there. It being painted to match definitely spruces it up. Can't imagine that was cheap though.

Thanks! Not cheap but cheaper than the pop-up/flip top tent camper things. Expensive for a shell for sure but also bomb proof (not literally) and entirely customizable.

Do they have camper shells for 2019 Tacos? My goal is getting a Camper Shell on a Tacoma. Still have to get a Tacoma, but I plan on having it during Labor day. By then I'll have a hefty down payment and hopefully my stubborn ass can get the dealers to get me a relatively good deal.

Anyways just curious if anyone knows anyone or has pics of any 2019 Tacomas with a basic camper shell?

I'm aiming to get a 2019 Double Cab and a 6FT bed. And I would love to get a truck cap on it.

Do you mind telling us how much you paid, to include the paint job?

As shown it was about $6k plus tax. They start at around $3-4k for a basic configuration with side doors, and rear glass. Insulation, inside skin, carpeting, matching paint, toolbox, vent, roof rack, security screens, sliding windows, lighting, etc account for the extra cost. I think prices may have gone up with the cost of aluminum going up since I bought mine.

My wife calls them Gramper-Shells. She thinks every truck that has one belongs to a Grandpa. I actually like them and plan to get one later on.

I get asked a lot about my shell through DM's here, IG, and on so I just went out and made a semi short video on it. Dont' fault me on the "um's" and wind noise, I'm not a pro youtuber by any means.

I got my ARE MX from these guys. They have good prices, good service, but I really appreciated their gallery of toppers on Tacomas: https://www.suburbantoppers.com/tacoma/

ARE CX camper came with the truck when I bought it. Has sliding windows wish it came with wind doors but will be ok. Really happy with the camper I want to build a sleeping platform in back for camping.4EB32772-F32B-45E4-BE57-457D7CD39F5A.jpg AFD789F7-8204-4582-88B1-C6876F764351.jpg

I’ve liked having a camper shell on my 08 for most of the time I’ve owned - I thought a soft topper would be wasting my money since every fabric boat cover I’d ever seen as a kid would shrink and bleach out and just be a throwaway item in the long run. Then I saw a softopper brand soft topper up close and decided when it’s time to get something for my 98, that’s the route I’d go. They’re easy to store, no added body roll from the weight of a fiberglass shell (which I noticed is more than the aluminum one I had before I bought the fiberglass one), and versatile if I just want to camp with some shade but have the sides open for unrestricted access. There are camper shells that can be set up a lot of different ways but for me not having to find a place to store one and not needing the security of a hard camper shell made me decide on a soft topper.

Impossible. Use the truck too much as a truck . Haul dishwasher , frig, stair master , plants and other home improvement BS. Also really nice accessing camping crap and baby stroller from the side and not from a back hatch.
