I think my fellow countrymen did a great job hosting this GP.

Hopefully we can get back on the calendar and become a regular stop once again, just like the old days.

Interesting first few laps. Some ecellent midfield racing. And whether ya like Hamilton or not we watched history being made today.

Russell to Red Bull!!

 

If they don't give Gasly another shot, he's doing better than Albon most of the time. Russell sure is putting a spanking on his teammate and squeezing everything out of that Williams though.

 

He is the real deal and should be in a car that can contend but I'd rather see him in the Merc.

 

I wanted to feel sorry for Bottas but he just seems to not do as well as Hamilton in the same setups in every race. As always, I would have loved to see him take it but both Mercs seemed to pit roughly around the same time and had the same tire setup and Hamilton just went off where Bottas seemed to lag. Otherwise, was glad to see Gasly up in 5th. Finally a Ferrari near the top of the pack... Leclerc did well. Was stoked Kimi made up 11 places... then just kept falling back. Otherwise, a good race, I enjoyed watching it.

 

In free practice the commentators were saying passing was going to be hard and prolly only in turn 1. Racers showed them by making passes anywhere on that track.

 

The on board of Kimi’s first lap is absolutely epic, it’s sad when the overall pace isn’t there to keep him up the ranks

 

agreed, that is disappointing when he, Sainz, et al pull off the quality and then the $100mil racecars fall right back into predicted positions. F1, love n hate.

 

Yep, I was cheering seeing Sainz get around the Mercs (knowing in the back of my head it wouldn’t last). But, I’ve come to expect the 1-2 domination so it’s at least fun seeing the other battles

 

I wonder if Hamilton wakes up every race day with the attitude of its just another Sunday drive. Must be nice to be in a car that just dominates.

 

I am betting its still a huge workup, and still a big struggle. It really is an outstanding display from a team aspect. I can not really remember a time the Merc team made the same mistake two races in a row, and rarely twice in the same season to consistently provide the best car.

And as unlikeable Hamilton can be at times, he is still one of the better drivers to watch because he is a unique character. F1 needs characters, and the most unique driver characters are the fan favorites because of it. Lando / Kimi / Lewis / Daniel etc.

 

Agreed, I like all 4 of those drivers for that very reason. Sucks Kimi has such a shit car he really is one of the funniest besides Daniel obviously

 

its because he was on soft tires and pretty much everybody else was on mediums , his tires had the advantage of being grippier for the first 1/2 dozen laps then everybody else's got into the operating temperature
