It finally happened

My friend in the back seat of my truck was smoking a hand rolled cig. and the ember flew right out of it, landed on the carpet, and burned a mini hole. What the hell. Is there anything I can do it fill the burn hole...? P.s. never trust anyone in the back seat with fire.

 

Was it just the floor mat? If not, I'm not really sure there's much you can do about it.

 

Come live in maine where cigs are up the ass because of our horrible economy in this state. I just by zig zag hand rollies for 3$ cheaper lmao. Ya....it was on the carpet, and hes a good friend and I bitched him out, I think what I am going to do it somehow patch it up. Trust me, I wish it wasnt a cig, because I wouldnt of been so pissed

 

hand rolled, haha niccee , thats a burn tho, literally.
in my old car i had drop some cig'ies and some hand rolled cigars, lol, but i used this carpet cleaner stuff, cant remember the name it was a houseold item i found in my garage, the black burnt part came out but the burnt carpet was still there but wasnt as noticeable.

 

just roll another "cigarette" and forget about it lmao

honestly tho that does suck and i dont know what you could do about it

If there is anyway you can remember the name lemme know, ive tried one product, it took most of it out but there is still a little black in it. Its really not that deep, but my truck is immaculate inside so this really kind of bugs me.

 

lmao, no it happened at 3 in the morning up to east bumb f%^$ maine... made the 8 hour drive pretty crappy.

 

well what people have done is take or cut a small peice of carpet from under a seat and glue it into the burn hole....you will never notice it

 

My old man had this Dupont upholstery cleaner that worked great! I'll look up what it was specifically. I'd try something like a soft brush, something you'd clean a bathroom with to get some of the black out. Worst case you could trim a little off the top of the carpet to cut off the burned portion.

 

Thank you, I have an older taco with the same kind of carpet that is about to go to the junkyard. Ill rip some carpet out of it and try this. Thanks Tacoma Enthusiasts

 

Lemme know, Ill try whatever product you used, and if not Ill cut some carpet out of my 1st gen tacoma and glue it into the hole..Ill have to play around with this.

 

there was an episode on Trucks where they fixed cig holes in the upholstery by shaving carpet from areas that are unseen like under the seat or back of seat etc... then simply glued it to the burn spots by applying a thin coat of adhesive, and laying the shaved upholstery on it. It looked pretty good IMO. Woudlnt hurt to try.

 

I saw something about repairing cig burns in seats on a tv show and tried it on my old explorer and it worked well to at least conceal the hole. If you find an obscure area (like maybe under the seat) use a razorblade to scrape a little bit of carpet "fuzz" from the carpet (dont cut a hole just get a mess of lint). Then clean out the hole a little with the razor blade to remove any black burn marks. fill with a little clear silicone. Allow the silicone to dry a little and then and matte in the carpet fuzz. Not a perfect fix but it will make it look a lot better.

 

Guess this was covered in the time it took me to write it up!

 

Get yourself a circular leather punch. It will cut a clean hole in the carpet. Remove the burn. Do the same thing under your passenger seat, but save the round cut-out from the punch. It will fit the burn hole perfectly. You can back the carpet with a piece of duct tape or whatever, and glue the new piece in the hole. Fixed. Can't tell it ever happened.

 

What he said ^^^you might be able to find those heat activated adhesive packages at home depot in the flooring section. Thats how carpet is typically patched. Make sure you find the direction of the nap (if any) and make sure the direction of the nap on the new piece of capet matches.

 

yea ill see if i still havent it at home, i doubt it tho, it was like 5 years ago, lol

thats a good idea, i would just do this, best option other than getting a whole new carpet.

 

++++1 this is probably the best way for a DYIer to geter done. I would just clarify by adding to cut fibers from the carpet not a piece of carpet.

 

Could you cover the burn with a mat? I mean like one of the mats that goes all the way across in the back floor?

 

I had this done professionally once many moons ago. You could not find the burn hole if you looked for it.
