    Hey everyone,

I spent 90ish bucks on the authentic knob but if I hadn't I would have given this a shot.

    https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08JTWRHN2/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_scLLFbTQQ45N7?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1

If you have tried this one respond with whether it was worth the $49.99 or if people should stick with the OEM knob.

Here is the link to the skid plate as mentioned by @TheThorn

    https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08LK1V9NR/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_6wLLFbN013S2C

I'm guessing both items will come with TRD branding, they just can't show it in the ad.

Let us know if anyone has tried this one too!

Sorry if someone has already posted about this, but I had never seen it on Amazon previously.

I noticed the other day that Amazon now has a knock off trd pro skid now too.

I seen these knock off TRD Pro shift knobs on Alibaba for $25. No TRD logo but it looks like the genuine knob, unknown quality though.

I noticed the shift knob as well! There are ones just like that on eBay for as low as 32.00

Curious if the knob and plate are still stamped with TRD. I would buy if I hadn’t just bought the skid for $400.

I doubt it will be anywhere near Japanese quality of the real one.

I couldn't stand the pro knob. First thing I changed. Too big for my taste but going from park to drive is different than shifting gear to gear. Not for sale.

I have found typically with knock-off products they are not able to display company logos because the product will be pulled (not a huge advocate for knockoffs, but when it's a piece of plastic that's being sold for hundreds of dollars....).
An example is the TRD pro faux grille, is advertised missing in A or an O from the web listing but then ships with the full word Tacoma.
I wouldn't be surprised if all these products come with the TRD branding.

Trust me, It couldn't be any worse than the real thing. Lady of my life bought me the OEM pro for my MT in 2016. Been on my shifter ever since (60,000 + miles) and I can tell you it hasn't worn to well. I can snap you a pic when I get into my truck today but the plastic has become completely smooth as opposed to the matted or gripper surface it came with. It is smooth like glass now.
The gear markings in the top "leather" has been worn as well. Soon you won't be able to see the embossed number for the gear pattern. Also, the actual knob has portions and pieces that fit together with 3m double sided tape and now those have began to wiggle loose and make audible clicks when touched. The gray portion sounds like clicking a mouse on a pc.
Totally not worth the money. Could I pull the pieces and re apply the 3m tape to make it less noisy? Waste of time. It stays on my truck because it was a gift and giver is in the truck quite often. I've almost had it though and soon OG knob will go back on or I will be looking for better. Anyone got some good suggestions?

Do you remember the manufacturer's name? I might contact them for one as well.

Did it come embossed with the TRD or did you just purchase the inserts and stick it on? Also, how did you get it so cheap shipped to you in PR? Just curious since shipping is usually the killer for these things and I am in the same boat here in HI.

If you zoom in on the Amazon pics it looks like there are a couple of plastic seams that the genuine part doesnt have. One of those seams is near where my palm normally rests. It probably isnt a big deal, but I get stupid OCD about little details like that.

I also have a moral dilemma about knockoff I.P. Mainly I hate supporting such a shady-ass industry. I understand not wanting to support artificially inflated prices of the original, but I'd rather do without than knowingly buy knockoffs. Mostly. Heaven knows I'm guilty of buying knockoff shit too. :anonymous:

I just have a contact actually, via Line/Wechat, I do not know what the company is called. Logistics based in HongKong, so they might have a Alibaba page. I met them when I was a tour agent before.

    Edit: one too many "just"

How heavy is it? I don't think these are aluminum, metal is cheaper to produce and demand for aluminum is high.

It is about 26lbs or 12kgs. It is not magnetic, and feels like aluminum.
