Just got back from first season myself. No luck for me and a bear got into two of the quarters of the elk my uncle got

Do you always hunt the same area?

 

I'm doing ok. Trying to focus on what I can change and let the rest go in this wild mess of a year.

 

Freezing is definitely a feature. Though if you get too cold you'll be too busy wondering if you're gonna die to see that 6x6 walk out in front of you


They were 15 foot up in a tree on the mountain side. They hiked the front quarters out immediately and left the rears overnight. In 49 years hunting that spot it was only the second time my grandpa had ever had issues with a bear

Yup! Didn’t end up paying the $1,200 ish tow fee. I will be calling them back tomorrow and getting their $150 a year membership tho. Unlimited tows.

As a last ditch, I put the throttle to max and started it in gear. We got out - but my propeller looked pretty gnarly.
