I’m a forest technician down in Texas! Luckily no bears down here, but we’ve got plenty of hogs and snakes.

Yeah I run the center console empty. I don't want to go to grab my gun and get snagged up in something else. I have a nice organizer for the glove box that I'm able to keep all of my essentials in + I've reclaimed the QI wireless charging pad and use that as storage as well.

Well not today but last night, I was able to finish my N2 remote start install! This is my first truck and my first time ever doing "modifications" especially to something so expensive so I was a little hesitant to snip a wire to get a remote start installed. With that being said, I actually direct messaged @N2DesignsInc to see what the timing for the full plug and play kit was as well as any insight on their current kit because with the Wisconsin winter coming I really wanted to get a remote starter installed. Jimmy the owner of N2 actually worked with me and sent me a FULL plug 'n' play kit for the 2020 Tacoma and I have to say, the install was easy but I still managed to have a question during it (due to me being scared of breaking something or making a mistake) and Jimmy helped me out over the weekend via text and phone. I have to say the people and groups that are on this site are a great bunch and I just want to thank a high majority of you sending me to N2 Designs and want to really thank @N2DesignsInc for the great customer service and the great product! The fact that Jimmy was willing to help me over the phone over the weekend shows the dedication to the customer!

i am interested in this for my 2020. When i go to their site it states *2020-21 will need a wire snipped" you mentioned your 2020 harness was completely plug and play w/o cutting a wire. Am i correct on this?

MSGulfCoastTaco: YES! This is their new kit that is coming out in the next couple weeks here. I was in contact with them after their post looking for people to install the new version in the CA area. I obviously was not in the CA area but I was just wondering more about this kit vs the one that requires a snipped wire and I got one of the new kits and did not have to snip or cut any wires! Like I said their customer service was great in helping me out as well as answering questions on it!

I'm interested as well. I thought the N2 remote start AT kits were already 100% plug-and-play and only the MT kits required snipping/splicing. Are they going to make a full PnP kit for the MTs now? I don't like cutting or splicing factory wiring so that has held me off on getting the N2 kit for my MT, but I may have to look into it again if they are coming out with a better kit.

Where did they post? Do you have a link? Would like to read up more on what they are doing.

I don’t see a problem with that... It worked in the movie ET.

I don’t know if your reasons are good enough for some people on here that assume most trips are to the mall or grocery store. My truck is almost 3 years old and I’m proud to say it has not been to the mall a single time.

OK looking back at the N2 thread and re-reading the OP there (has been updated since the last time I looked) it appears they had a bit of a regression with the 2020+ AT kits and had to make one wire splice. It looks like they finally figured that out and are back to 100% PnP on the AT again. Still splicing on the MTs though.

    :annoyed:

@MSGulfCoastTaco I am newer to this forum so not sure how to link the other thread - but it is titled:
N2 Designs 2016-2021 Tacoma 3x OEM FOB Plug n Play Remote Starter Kit (AT & MT) + Smart Module
They have some information as well as responses in there talking about their plans and status of their new kits.

Also @deusxanime their 2016-2019 were full Plug'n'Play and their 2020 and 2021 have a wire that has to be snipped however they are coming out with one that does not need to be snipped for the AT I have no idea about the MT you will have to ask @N2DesignsInc on that one.

Yep I figured that out after a bit of digging. Here's a link to the thread btw.

Weather tech screw on/no drill bug deflector. Never bothered with one on my Tundra, but makes a huge difference on the Tacoma. Putting one on our four runner next.
Also put in a factory bed mat which is a must have. I’m waiting for my interior LED kit from Precision LED to arrive this week.

Alright doll-face, c'mon and bore me!
Somewhere around a couple decades ago, I bought some 10lb. 3A-40BC fire extinguishers for each level of the house plus the garage. Spent a few bucks more for the refillable units. I used to be pretty good about going around every fall and checking each. Just look at the gauge to make sure the needle is in the green "OK" area, then hold it horizontally and shake it, or tip it towards the nozzle, then the base. You should hear/feel the powder shifting around. Well, I neglected doing this for a couple years and ended up with one where the powder had clumped up at the bottom and wasn't shifting. Tried putting it over my knee and hitting the base with a rubber mallet repeatedly to loosen it up, no luck.

Called up a local fire equipment supplier and asked what it would cost to get this one unit serviced. Turned out to be more than the cost of just buying a new unit. Problem with just replacing them is that you have to dispose of the old one, and the shops charge a not-insignificant disposal fee for that. Yes, you could probably just go out in the back yard and discharge the pressure, then disassemble it and toss the aluminum canister in the recycle bin. I'd rather not have that fine yellow powder flying all over, and I'm always leery about taking apart a pressure vessel.

So on my way home from work one day, I stopped by one of the town's fire stations and talked to the battalion commander and asked for his views on maintaining/replacing residential fire extinguishers. He was trying really hard to be helpful, but didn't really seem that concerned about it. He was of the opinion that so long as the pressure reading is okay, and the powder hadn't settled into one big lump, that they should be fine regardless of the age.

Got a bracket from Kiddie for a 10lb. unit for the bed of the Taco, just need to mount it. It's on the list.
