Ya holy shit, pretty much $1540 out the door for a lift install is crazy high. Figure probably $150 for the mount and balance on the wheels and tires, thats the tax right there. So still ~$1400 in labor for just the lift.

Did they say how long it would take to complete? Did you buy the parts through them or bought online? I could see the price being that high since they're not installing parts they sold you and made a profit off of, so they get ya on the labor for the install.

If thats $200 an hour which is crazy high, they're charging for 7 hours which is like twice as long as it should take with a lift and air tools.

Wasn't das donkey's shop rate like $180 or so if you brought your own parts in? I remember someone had just got some self supplied parts installed by them and then like a week later another person went in with their own parts and the labor rate jumped.

That new shop/warehouse they're in, I wonder what their rate is now. At least sales tax is ~1% less in Preston vs Issaquah.

Right. Bought it online so I guess they are trying to justify it that way. But yeah I though that was a bit much, but I'm new to all this so wasn't sure. You guys have any shops you'd recommend? Some some threads on here mention Torfab so gonna reach out to them for a quote.

Yeah definitely call around and check pricing. Not sure how big of a hurry you're in, and it's getting colder out this time of year, but you might be able to convince/bribe someone with a heated garage/shop to help you out and bring that price down. Nothing worse than wrenching on shit with cold ass fingers or a wet ass.

I mean I'd rather get it done sooner than later but not gonna pay a premium for that. I'll definitely look around. Certainly open to bribing someone that wants to help :)

Michaels in Bellevue did mine and if I remember correctly it was about $850 (not including tires) and came with a free loaner for the day. Maybe @TheToyotaGarage will chime in

You might want to specify wheel torque specs with them. Service advisors have no clue and will go with ugga dugga sticks. Ask me how I know.

You guys missed all the fun. This past week, we went from winter storm watch to winter storm warning with 3-5 inches of snow expected, to 6 inches in Spokane, and 8 inches at my house, most of it during the day friday. Overnight low got down to 10 last night.

I have my dodge 2500 for a forever truck (at least the engine...). I still miss having a Tacoma though.

I had a gas v8, yes they are thirsty

Good to hear, may have to take you up on that this next week or so. Coming from Lake Stevens a bit of a mob but am strongly considering. Always love snow personally.

I remember having a foot deep of snow in my driveway in Lake Stevens one year. I put my Tacoma into 4hi to get through that, then back to 2wd once on the compact snow/ice on the street with a whole shovel in the bed for weight. Stupid traction control had to be turned off to have fun.

Come February, I think I'll have enough snow here that my diesel on 33s will have issues getting to the barn. That truck does not float on top of the snow even if I drop tire pressure down. She weighs in at a mere 7000 for daily driving.
