Sunrise in N. Az on Thanksgiving day, traveling to the inlaws for Thanksgiving lunch.... There was about 3-5" of snow on the ground.

Sunset at my parent's house. It snowed a few days prior, but melted. Still, the weather was cold...

    Yes it is.

The truck did great, I did not have any weight in the back. The snow was not too deep, so it was not too difficult. Where my inlaws live, they can have deep snow. Last year I had to through chains on the rear tires to have traction. I will be heading back that way for the Christmas, so I will see how the KM2s handle in deep snow. :mudding: <-instead of mud, image it as snow

Nice, I enjoyed driving my truck at stock height. One time the snow was so deep the bottom of the truck was dragging. But it sucked because I kept getting stuck. :p

Once you learn how your truck handles in snow, you will know how to navigate through snow. Just be sure to have a shovel and snow chains if you go into deep snow or when the ground is frozen.

    Couple questions.
Have you noticed any cons about completely removing the mud flaps? Because of how low my 5 lug sits when I was off road this last weekend they are maybe an inch from the ground at times. I would just as well like to see them go. Just curious how you like yours off?

And, the exhaust. The only thing that is keeping me from doing that to mine is the idea of all that condensation getting caught under the bed. With the rust issues Toyota has had in the past, I would hate to rapidly speed up the process. Do you think the exhaust condensation makes a bit of difference with a dumped exhaust or am I being paranoid?

Have fun towing the jeep. ;)

I really like the look of the truck with the mud flaps off. As for the exhaust, my only concern was cutting the pipe so the outlet would not be near any of the brake wires under the truck. I also wanted the exhaust to be pointing downward, which is why I cut it where I did. The other concern I had was if the muffler was going to rattle more because I eliminated on of the mounting points in the rear (because I cut the pipe short). No rattling whatsoever, so all is good.

If I did not cut the exhuast short and take of the mud flaps, I am sure I would have damage them both. I am sure the mud flap would have broke, the exhaust pipe could have been all banged up. On a recent offroad trip, I came down hard on a rock and damage the rear part of the fender (between rear wheel and bumper).

The Deavers I had installed on my truck were from a 6 lug Tacoma, 6 lugs are not SUA. Our 5lugs are SUA, so the Deavers dropped the truck. I plan to have the Deavers rearched so they can give me a 2" lift.

Like I said in the PMs, you will need to have the Deavers or Dakars with a different design/arch to accommodate our SUA. They can design what you want, a leaf pack that will give you a 2" lift and tow your load.

Yes, they can build your leaf springs for your desired application. I don't know of any one using a shackle flip on the 5 lugs so I don't know how it will effect the rear suspension. As for a 6lug with a shackle flip, I've read they gain a small lift and the rear flexes more.

are deavers and dakars the only leaf packs that will work with 5 lug? also, if i got a custom dakar pack. what shocks should i get. i dont need like super duper off road ones. just ones that work and arent pricey. also would be nice if it was a somewhat comfortable ride haha

Those are the only two I would recommend. As for the shocks, I would wait to have the springs mounted, then you can measure what length you will need to buy for the shocks. You don't want to buy a shock and have it max out. Maybe it will sit close to a stock height 6 lug, so you can probably look at shocks that will fit a 6 lug.

be sure to clarify that you have a 5 lug tacoma and the stock set up is spring under. if you tell them you have a SUA tacoma they will prob assume that your talking about an f55 or f67 62" pack... those require custom fab to mount
