Yes. Fortunately the defroster works well right away.

On the Tacoma that would activate the PTC Heater so she should get some early heat.

I never understood this, it's maddening! If it's blowing cold air, turn it the fuck off! It may be cold in your car, but choosing to blow even more cold air past yourself will only make things worse. I don't need it hot to turn fan on, but there's no reason to blow 20° air at yourself, it'll warm up in 1-2 minutes.

I actually have noticed that my taco takes longer to get to operating temps than any of the vehicles ive owned. I have owned 2 trucks and quite a few 80, 90s vehicles.

Mine starts blowing heat a tad sooner, but I agree that it probably takes the longest to come up to operating temp of all the vehicles I've owned. Not slow enough where I worry there's an issue, but slower than my GM or Ford did.

Just gotta hold it at about 5k rpms when you first start it up to get the heat built up. Only takes like 3 minutes for me that way.

I prefer to build a small campfire in the passenger seat.

If you open the passenger window about 3" and the driverside window about 1" it will create a nice convection draft right by you, drawing the heat to you.

Toyota makes a factory one of these for the canadian market... Though it starts the fire in the engine bay where there is more kindling.

Most everyone I have co piloted with automatically turns the heat fan switch to WFO !!...For those not so inclined....WFO is an old motocross acronym for wide freakin open.
This just draws ultra cold air across the heater core and gives the feeling of even colder air coming out making said occupants shivering and wishing for heated seats.

I notice this (if my pre senile brain does not leave the settings that worked alone when I shut the coma off) and push the auto button for the desired temp the fan comes on............WFO !!!!

Lesson learned here from us old folks that started out with hand crank Henry Fords....let the little sucker idle for a few minutes and warm up...and don't put the fan switch to WFO ....

Use the PTC heater. It works pretty well.

I don't notice mine warming up any slower or faster than my other work trucks.
Quick minute warm up on cold mornings and a slow easy take off will have everything up to temperature within a few short minutes.
Might just have to run defrost lightly until the heat starts.
But I don't think it takes any longer.

No scientific data here but I think the heating and cooling seem to take a bit longer in this vehicle than others I have owned. Get's rippin hot once its hot though.
