The game certainly sucked. I'm not hoping for Cam to be ruled ineligible like you think I am, though.

I just think that the precedent set by the NCAA with this ruling is an odd one. They said Cam's dad asked for money, and there's no punishment for doing so. It really is a green light for coaches/family members/etc. to ask schools for money for their kids, just so long as the kid 'doesn't know.'

When the NCAA has this sitting in their lap and is too scared to make an example out of it, to deter others from continuing this crap, that is where they fail.

In the long run, it's hurting both the sport and the KIDS that do things the right way. The ones who go to class, bust their ass to make the grades, give everything they have on and off the field- they are the ones getting screwed.

Look back at Reggie Bush, take him out of the formula at USC, every team he played against and every team that was at the top of the BCS with USC was effected by his being there and making money. USC is paying for it now, Reggie has learned his lesson, but what about all those other players from other teams??

Same concept here. Auburn is very possibly going to win the NC. sCam also may win the Heisman. Everybody else gets screwed. I know life isn't fair, but an organization should be doing everything in it's power to keep the playing field as level as it can by enforcing the rules that are already in place. A NCAA investigation used to be a serious, scary thing for schools. Is it still? In my opinion, they lost a bit of their stroke with this decision.

While I'd love to bash Auburn, I have to agree with Will at the moment.

IF it comes out that more went on and Auburn and/or Cam did wrong, then I agree people will get screwed. Until then, there's nothing more than a cloud over the program/heisman/championship for some people.

I still think that the NCAA ruling today is strange. Seems to me that you're begging parents to shop their kids around.

    Remember Albert Means?

It was found that his high school coaches shopped him to Alabama.. and received improper benefits, which ruled him ineligible to play for 'Bama. But when he transferred to Memphis, he was eligible because no one received money from them.

    Same sort of situation.

Yeah, Auburn has a tough game with SC first, Ha, first the Cocks then the Quacks. It should be a great game, if, for sure AU gets there. As crappy as there D is, I'm not sure the Ducks have seen anything as fast as a SEC defense. This might look like a basketball score before it's over.

The athletes that go about the legal way are getting screwed. Cam was ruled eligible, yes- but ethically do you honestly believe he is? I don't. Just because it can't be proven he knew what was going on doesn't mean he didn't know.

So your only problem is that you believe Cam knew that his dad had discussions with MSU about money? And you think he should be punished because of that, even though he didn't sign with that school?

What are you feelings on Marcel Dareus? He received extra benefits. He's still playing. Are all those teams that Alabama beat this year getting screwed? I mean, that's not fair to them right?

I think people are innocent until PROVEN guilty. It's prolly a good thing we can't go on "feelings" for the most part.

Last time I checked Dareus told the UA compliance office what happened as soon as he got back, he also paid for his own plane ticket and hotel room even when people offered to pay for them. He also paid back the money he owed before the season. So that's a completely different circumstance.
