It is just because of what is going on right now.. Not getting into what or why... But those of us who have guns are stockpiling.

All of the local stores have been stripped bare when I've been in. I've given up on Freedom Munitions; they're sold out of pretty much everything, what they do have has gotten stupid expensive. Last time I checked they wanted $60 plus shipping per 100 for 9mm reloads, and they had nothing in .357 or .45

Reed's has a spiced apple that I can usually find around now--it's like apple pie in liquid form. Guido's usually has a good selection, but I don't really like going there because it's so crowded. Plus Lenox is pretty far out of the way for me.

I did the combustion blower last year. Didn't realize how bad it was until I put the new one in--the stove was so much quieter after. I can barely hear it run on low now. I kind of want to do the convection one because I have a suspicion that it's supposed to blow a little stronger than it does, but I'll probably wait for it to start making noise. Mine's a QuadraFire. I like them--had one in the last house too. Only thing is I have to be pickier with pellets than I would be with some other stoves because the ash will overwhelm the burn pot. A friend has a Harman and my mom has a St. Croix and those just let ash overflow into a large pan so it doesn't matter much.

Yep, that's about right. $.65/round is what I am finding. Sometimes worse.

Ever have Saranac Root Beer? It's good stuff but hard to find away from the region it's made in.
If I find some, do we get to light up the rental? Hopefully you paid the $3 for the extra insurance :infantry:

I'm not paying for this rental, it's a loner from my shop. I think I should charge him when I give it back.

The piece from the blower to the first pipe keeps rotting out. This is my second stove since 2007, the last few years of the first, I did nothing but load pellets and vacuum every couple days. Figured at that point the 1300 bucks or so was worth the new one. I’ve checked out some of the others, they are nice but too big for what I need, and I’m cheap.

At this point basically everyone know I enjoy my green, but even at my house, I don’t just fire up a bowl when my kids are anywhere around. I really don’t care if they see me, but yet I’m so stuck on what if they see me.

But we have liquor bottles on the counter, drink beers around them...

I'm jealous of you there; I've got a Thelin Echo and the circulation/combustion motor is loud. It's a nice looking stove and I got it for a song (needed a new wire run from the hopper switch to the control board), but it's noisy. I don't mind it too much because we only burn 8-10 bags a year, during the shoulder seasons, but it's a couple of notches on the TV.

Yeah, I've rebuilt it (new bearings, brushes, and a thorough cleaning) and that helped a little bit, but it's still fairly noisy. I think it's just the fan design, honestly. Instead of having two motors (one for induction and one for room circulation) the same motor runs them both, so you've got three axial fans stacked on top of each other. It's more efficient from an electrical draw standpoint (the stove is 110 stepped down to 12v and was designed to run for 3 days on a deep cycle battery during a power outage), but louder than having the circulation fan be a separate centrifugal unit. I originally considered buying a new motor for it to test my theory, but it's sold as an assembly only and it's $350, which is more than I paid for the stove. For as seldom as I use it, I'll just deal with turning the TV up a little bit

SIL is the smoothie/sandwhich shop manager or something there, so the wife will find her way there regularly enough. They make some great food, but too $$ to eat everyday .
Yeah we have that around here, I do enjoy it as well. There are a few shops around here I've been to that seem to have a good variety or keep changing up their vendors so I can try new companies.

Yeah since the baby I've been regulated to outside or in the basement, once shes a real age and would be wondering around I'll have to figure it out, but probably will just cut back use as she'll keep me busy anyways.

if you get back and charge more I won’t come.

    :duh:

Kidding I don’t give a rip. I’m happy to have someone that does a good job nearby every season and even if it’s more expensive it’s still half or less of what anyone else would charge, and even less than doing it myself. Plus not getting as waxy myself. :broccoli:

Mine's pretty loud on medium/high because it kicks up the fans so much. I use it on low pretty much exclusively because any more and it gets too hot in the living room. I use medium overnight sometimes when it's approaching zero since low won't quite maintain then. High is almost always too much. I used high on one of the -15 nights last year and when I got up in the morning the house was 82.

Mine's something like 40,000 BTUs. I could definitely get by with less, though I guess the plus is I can heat the house with just the stove pretty easily if I need to. It isn't evenly heated, but the areas we spend the most time in are the warmest so it's fine.

I haven't been in a year or so. I like it, it's just always busy and I'm usually one to time a normal grocery store so I'm going when nobody is there.

A friend's brother in law apparently just became a manger (maybe the GM?) at Wild Oates. I've never been there--keep meaning to see what it's like.

very rarely does the feed rate go any higher than 1, my baseboard heat is set to only come on if it’s really cold and the stove goes out or we aren’t home. Although when it’s really cold out, I need to turn the upstairs on, if not the pipes will freeze in the wall or ceilings.

Other than that the house is heated from the pellet stove.

I have zero issue with anyone that smokes. I personally don’t as it is still federally illegal and therefore incompatible with firearm purchasing per the questions on the 4473.

Beer is my vice. So many good choices here-probably the best beer selection since I left Alaska. I grabbed a VT IPA Variety pack a couple weeks back and one of the varieties was something called “Little Anomaly”. Had a picture of a bunny rabbit with antlers on the front-not a jackalope. I do keep grabbing Harpoon’s seasonal—Flannel Friday. It is pretty good.

We had a chimney fire when I was a kid. Scared the shit out of my dad as we had just moved in and this was the first house he bought. Sounded like a freight train running in the living room. The Volly Fire Department got there before any damage occurred.
After that proper chimney care was a big thing—clean yearly, burn good wood, run it hot for awhile before bed to burn out creosote, keep chimney fire extinguishers nearby(I have a couple of Chimfex coming via UPS tomorrow). The owner of this place said the chimney was cleaned over the summer, and I believe him, but I’m nt risking it.

Good luck dude. This seems about as bad as the 2013 panic except this time, you can actually find .22LR. I subscribe to the mantra of buy it cheap and stack it deep. Wait until it is cheap again(<20CPR for practice 9mm) and then buy in bulk(minimum 1K at a time). Yeah, you have to store it and move it, but it pays off in times like these. This will also pay off if this random big event in November where we supposedly choose between some old white dudes goes the wrong way. My advice is to watch all the ammo dealer sites(Target Sports, SGAmmo, PSA, AIM, Natchezss, Grafs, etc, etc) and have your credit card sitting by the computer. You may be able to use an add on for your browser to detect changes in pages(like from out of stock to whatever). You’ll still pay more than normal, but you won’t get scalped by a reseller looking to take advantage of folks.
