I just had my key cut at Home Depot for free, however the flip key only turns with the buttons facing down. They filed it down but we still couldn’t get it to work both ways.

I went both to Home Dept and Autozone both said they couldn't cut it. I'm not wasting any more time - I'll just pay the $45 at the dealer to get it cut. The guy at Home Depot looked at me like an alien, and Autozone babbled about their machine not being able to read the already cut key.

    Blah blah blah.

So I screwed up and destroyed the transponder in one of my OEM keys. *facepalm*

Is it possible to just order the H wedge transponders instead of an entire key fob and have the transponder programmed at a locksmith?

Yes, you can. Just google H key transponder. There are a bunch. It doesn't seem like I am getting the one that I tried to order from a US company. See my post a couple pages back. I would guess that you would have better luck with the ones on eBay from Asia.

From what has been said, the chip programming is expensive. I would bet that you could find some one local with TechStream to help you out?

It’s possible, yeah. I’m sure I could find someone.
Online I’m seeing wedge H transponders as 4D-67 versions. Is this right?

That is the one that I attempted to order, but those jokers are wholesalers. You don't find that out until after the order goes through. Then, they do the courtesy of ghosting you.

You got to grab that same chip from another source. The only other places that I saw was Asia.

Pardon my ignorance. Does the fact that we have the H key mean that the wedge transponder is also the H transponder? There’s a G that says it works so I’m just trying to figure out which one is correct.

I find it refreshing, coming from an old time key insert here and turn, to a modern insert finger and push society.....but.... I STILL HAVE TO VARRY THE DAMMMM FOB KEY WHATEVER.....some progress.

I don't know. I was just happy to find that chip was available. Now, I'm half way leaning toward hacking up my key and moving on.

If I can do it gracefully enough that the pocket is not completely destroyed, I might be happy.

I wish he had red buttons or a red panic button option for the flip fob and a red TRD plate for the other side of the fob.

Your wish has been granted. Stay tuned I will list them on the site in the next few days. Along with blank key inserts in case anyone messed theirs up.

I got mine. I dig it hard. Also I love the gold Meso Sticker.

I cannibalized my stock key for the chip, which was kind of a bitch. Day one I cut up my stock key shank with a Dremel, I don't recommend that method, but I had already destroyed the key housing so fuck it? It'll work in a pinch.

Anyway... Yesterday I wen to Paul's Safe and Lock in Roseville, Ca to have them cut the original Meso blank, after they got done examining the key and geeking out about it, I was done for $3.00. I talked with the guys there they can program you a chip for $40.00, if any of you are local to the NorCal Sacramento Area.
