When I was behind the counter at the small engine shop I used to keep a mason jar of 87 octane that I drained from a customers fuel tank.. I used it as an example as to why it's important to not keep gas stored for too long because it had just enough water in it to show the separation of the 2 fluids

After a year I had to get rid of it because it was almost all water and no gas.. ethanol is a serious killer of small engine carbs

I used to have a meth addict for a neighbor and he would drain all 4 tires and refill them every few months "to get rid of the stale air" o_O

I have had 0 problems with Non Ethanol.
I drain tanks and run engine till dry for long term storage except 2 strokes.
I use True Fuel 2 stroke mix but still drain for storage.
I like my smalls to fire right up and they do.

That is the exact advice I would give my customers.. I would usually go one step further and explain to those cheap bastards they don't HAVE to run non ethanol the entire time but the last gallon of the season should definitely be fuel without ethanol and either run it dry or leave the tank full to the max line so little to no condensation can build up

Or if they insist on getting the 10% blend just store it your house or a heated and insulated garage

They never liked that last comment

That true fuel is awesome but I find it to be prohibitively expensive, if you can find this stuff it's actually a better oil blend than whats in the true fuel cans... if you can't find it at your local small engine place, Amazon has it for sale

Did you use to race motorcycles before the yacht life? It's been awhile since I've heard that brand mentioned

I like pushing the opti stuff mainly because their oil is so good its been third party tested to be as lean as 150:1 and will still provide adequate lubrication to a 50:1 machine. I can personally attest that I would mix it 100:1 in my 32:1 moped and it made it 5k miles before i laid it over in the rain and snapped the connecting rod.. plus their a local WA company so that makes me feel good

Two wheels off road has always been my preferred escape mode.

If ancient history has taught me anything, the best way to escape is to hide under a rock

Imo pre and grade school teachers have one of the most important jobs there is and are grossly under appreciated and under paid for it, considering the value in what they do. Seriously takes a genuinely good person to make a career out of it imo
