Man, it seems like it’s a hit or miss with the stock racks. I just order my 37’s so hopefully my steering rack can take the abuse for a bit.

It all depends how hard you push it. I know I drive mine hard so it really was only a matter of time before something went wrong. That said there’s a few good options for upgrades now, the modified tundra rack which a few people offer, and the JD Fab slide rack which is what I’m going with. Both will really need up the steering to handle big tires and abuse.

Tell me more about this JD fab rack? Looked into the tundra rack swap.. wasn't 100% sold.. idk.

I've gone through a few myself.. even my current one is about toast. (was actually going to pick up your tie rods and boots). My inner is destroyed. Rack has poly bushings. Need to replace my blown driver side LCA too. Ordered the Bison cam bolts to help beef it more. Front end needs some work right now and in the process of gathering parts and beefing it all up. Already have gussests everywhere. Also planning on going 35s next tire. Would like to beef the rack as much as possible this go around. Even contemplating getting some aftermarket LCAs while I'm at it. F it.

There’s info burried in here somewhere.

    https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads...el-and-934-cv’s.626274/page-134#post-24425556

But here’s mine that I’m hopefully installing in the next week or two. EE615FC7-14AA-4632-8B1B-A437B42B046B.jpg

I’ve heard them called rack savers or slide racks. But basically it is a secondary slide that runs parallel to the stock rack essentially doubling the size of the shaft. As a bonus it puts the Rack in double shear with a few tabs that get welded to the frame. You’d have to ask in the other thread but I think you can still run factory tie rods with it but I’m not certain. I was always planning on upgrading to heims so I didn’t look into it. If you do switch to heims they have a double shear kit for the spindle as well. 91524967-0AF6-42EA-B611-3D75B637F572.jpg
This is their double shear kit and spindle gussets. My old tc gussets we’re starting to crack so I went with a fresh start.

Tundra rack with stock width I hear has some noticeable changes in bump steer, less noticeable with LT. This is much better about maintaining factory geometry. But both options require frame mods for install.

Pm me if you want the inner tie rods and boots and we’ll figure out the details

Thanks man. I'll dive into it some more for sure. I like that design. Almost like hydro assist in a way.

I saw your double shear heimed spindles in your build. Was drooling over those. I already have mine gusseted with the TC kit.. are those heim mounts able to be added after the fact? I'd just convert it all at the same time as well like you.

Yep they sell the heim double shear kit separately so unless it interferes with your current gussets you should be able to add that later. They have more/ better pics of that kit on their website

Cool, I guess I need to buy a case of your favorite adult beverages, come up and smell the awesome pines with a wallet full of cash... The frame brace is powder coated so it needs stripped and coat it in weldable primer. I didn’t know so that’s a nice Business Card you printed up....

Thank you my good man and PM coming...

Anyone interested in a trade for my set up? Everything is in great shape. Softopper, and bed slide out and drawer. Perhaps a bed rack, tonneau, armor, etc.
