Wow, that's chilly for CO, especially in October! What did you guys get for snow out of this last storm?

I'm using Amsoil Brake fluid in mine. Seriously yours felt sluggish in cold???

Up here in Collins officially was 14" but I think on the south end of town where I'm at we got maybe an inch less. Fine with me though!

I still have the factory fluid in mine aside from a splash of some whatever brand from doing the ADM. Every MT with a hydraulic clutch I've ever owned has felt like this when it gets real frosty. Not really complaining since it's normal but it had me missing a bell crank just a little bit.

Pretty sure the world is officially ending, following this terrible 2020, seeing as it's October and currently snowing in El Paso lol

I've had a couple cable clutches. While the simplicity is very nice, they have their own drawbacks also.

Still, an MT is a joy compared to any AT.

Unfortunately not from yesterday but this was from an 18" storm last November. Man I had a blast romping down unplowed roads to go to breakfast that morning. Also had to pull out my buddy's Frontier that day.

Yeah like on my older Volvo 245Ti - the hard plastic sleeve grommet would eventually let go and pull the entire sleeve with actuation- leaving zero clutch. Easy fix, but still at 4AM what a PITA. Can't complain - plastic part going 250K miles, not so bad.

I do wonder how much difference "synthetic" brake fluid would make in cold. I used quotes because brake fluid is typically glycol ether and is not a straight petroleum distillate. (IOW it IS synthetic)

There were also the seasonal adjustments because the friction zone would move around. Usually about a half turn, but . . .

I would be surprised if the factory fill was not a synthetic fluid. Stiff clutches in the cold have been noted since I have been here. Some folks say they get a stiff first shift at temps up to 60F. I have never felt it, but temps never get low enough here to experience it.

I get the stiff 1st gear shifts too pretty much every morning regardless of temperature. Temps more seem to affect the severity of it on mine but once again, typical of every manual I've owned so not worried about it. While we're on the subject of stiff 1-2 shifts in the cold, the NSG370 in my LJ... just wow... I've got a pile of Redline MT90 sitting in the garage for both of them so I'll be interested to see if that makes any difference in either one.

We've had a few teens and once under 10°F here. As I stated, pretty sure all modern brake fluid is synthetic.

Redline was the only fix for a couple other MTs that were difficult. It definitely improved the Taco, though there wasn't much of an issue. Just jammed out of 1st a couple times and a not so good UOA that was posted for the factory fill.

    :notsure:

I didn't get that from your post. Thanks for clearing it up.

As I said, no issues on my end in these temps.

    You have an LJ?

Redline made a pretty big difference in my 95 Pathfinder. Doing all the fluids on the Taco here in about 3000 miles.

I thought of that as well but if you look closely you can see a ring around the little nipple inside and I'd say that's where the seal is when it goes together but if it does then I'll just go ahead with the ADM. I figured doing it this way, it still keeps everything looking factory unless someone actually takes it apart and looks inside it. I didn't think of it until i already carved the groove in the top or I would've just drilled it out to see how it felt first before hacking it.

The dremel method is my favorite so far. I intent to swap out my brake line elbow with a dremeled accumulator.

I saw that there was some of the nipple left in the seat, but the shape of the double flare might not contact it? It's all good if it works though.

I'll have to get a good updated picture of it but this is right when I put the gladiator takeoffs on. It's got a matching spare now. Forgive me everyone for going a bit off topic.

    Yeah.... Good stuff.

Uh, and no accumulator, as a point of topical reference :D
