Went to a dealer in LA the day I landed... a pro in LR manual they had sitting right there...
    :bananadance:

They would not budge off their 15k dealer mark-up...

And this on a 49k msrp... (The full catalog of accessories + other dealer added goodies - it came up to an affordable sales price of only $66k.
    I chuckled and left...
    :censored:

I hit Dublin Toyota and they were just unloading a tech+ premium offroad in Army green! Got the blood going... got a nod on no additional mark-up...

    - but I left without it... simply could not do the auto transmission...
    :notsure:

Heads-up for anyone looking for this combo! ... (I do not have msrp as it did not have a sticker yet)

I’ve yet to see a manual Taco...

That's part of the problem. After nearly 3 months of looking I'm not really finding what I'm looking for. Apparently basic TRD OF DCLB is a bit of a rarity, all is rootin'-tootin' off-roaders up here gotta have premium leather and blind spot monitoring.
The dealer who said $1k off just admitted there's a little more room in the price, so progress.

Your best bet may be to wait. 1) Production was slowed down due to the rona, and 2) it’s the brand new hotness. Just like all new hot products, everybody wants one. Including me. May just have to wait until production increases and the demand lowers.

I’m actually leaving in a few hours to pick mine up, but I seriously thought about waiting until next Spring or Summer.

I'll play the waiting game if I must, just trying to work any angles that come up. I straight up told the dealer I'd like to be closer to the 8% off MSRP range otherwise I'll be back in touch in the future.
Used 2019 TRD OF DCLB with tech package just showed up locally, $36k with 42k miles. Wild times.

What is a "normal" percent discount off of MSRP? I mean in previous model years/back before COVID/during normal times.

I'm not exactly sure what I should be targeting.

It seems anywhere between 8% and 10% off is a good deal in today's climate. But what about buying new during the last few years?

Agree, but not sure about the "brand new hotness" as the truck in its current form has been around since 2016 lol. Its always been popular, just a bit more now than it was in earlier years as it was pretty dated.

8-10% for most people is the norm, you can manage 12-13% and a good time of the month/year, etc. as many of us have, don't expect much more, there is a reason they hold crazy resale.

Someone posted 5-7 pages back that they heard Toyota was having a problem in the supply chain for teh back seats in double cabs. I cannot vouch for the accuracy of that. Your report sounds similar. I cannot confirm or invalidate either report.

have a price on sr5 dclb in transit for 35,308, msrp is 37,577.
Another dealer is quoting me for 35,500 on a dcsb thats 8 weeks out. The latter is pre-incentive.

Both cement. Might have to wait it out.

I have spent way too much time searching. Giving up and moving on... I finally had a deal in place (MSRP which is still the norm in SoCal). When I went to pick it up they added an alarm and a couple of other things they weren’t willing to take off. I walked...and they didn’t care as there was literally a guy standing next to me willing to buy it as is.

I actually just got a call from my dealer and he advised that my build was also pushed back about 5 days, just FYI for everyone else. I did have a double cab. Mine was ordered in Early September with a build date of Nov 9 that is now Nov 14.

I just picked up 2021 Tacoma TRD OR 4X4 in Army Green. Someone ordered it and never picked it up. So after 50 days, it was eligible to be sold to someone else. Saw the truck the night before and picked it up the next morning when it was eligible.

I meant the 2021s are the ‘new hotness’ since they just came out.

I think any Tacomas are hot right now given the market even just looking at the insane prices of used, lol.
