I have a 6” Rough Country on my 1998 Tacoma 3.4l and my front struts and coils are practically smushed and my front end is sagging. What I’m wondering is if there is a difference between struts and coils for the 6 and 4 cylinders. I’m thinking I didn’t buy stuff enough coils and I would like my pickup to sit level. Thank you

There isn't a difference in struts, but there is in the springs. Sounds like you possibly have 3rz springs.

Here's my 99 with 140k. 2.7l, 5 speed, 4.10s. Best truck I've ever owned. Rear end has about 2 inches of lift, Bilstein 5100s on the way for the front, 33"s coming soon!

Picked up a 2000 Tacoma last week with 141k, 3.4L, auto trans, 4x4, factory sunroof, very clean. Need to look into camper shell options.

I'm not crazy about the chrome trim around the wheel arches. Does that come off easily/leave any holes?

My 1999 had something like those chrome strips. It was just a few screws that held it on with some sort of snap in mounts. Be aware the paint may be rubbed badly underneath them.

    Howdy neighbors,

Here is my 98' Taco w/ 165k miles.

Before chrome delete & Uptop Overland truck rack (the VERY first 1st gen to get the Uptop Overland Rack):

After Uptop Overland rack & chrome delete:

    4th Truck.jpg

Make sure to reach out to Micah @ Uptop Overland if you are interested in the rack. They are out of Castle Rock, CO. You can see his racks on popular overland youtubers such as Taco Twonz & Tacomaholic. Waiting on LLOD & Tacoma Beast to get on board. Would love to see more of those 1st gen racks out there! Would actually like to see more 1st gens in general. Anyone in the Ken Caryl, CO area?

Anyone have a cool steel metallic or simmilar with the chrome painted grey/ gunmetal? I am thinking of painting the grill surround, badges, and factory wheels with a grey/gunmetal. Maybe even the bumpers

Here is the note that is provided from Micah (Owner) by Uptop Overland. Since mine was the first they had to get their hands on it to install. However, I believe they were talking about creating a template to send with the rack that would have drill points for the customer to install. Maybe they will install for you? I imagine they would charge labor. These racks are literally everywhere in Colorado and growing faster than the old outdated Prinsu. These guys at Uptop Overland will treat you right and get it done. Just know they have expanded their business SO MUCH in the last couple years as before they were only doing Tacomas and now they have a HUGE list of vehicles so they are constantly shipping out product, creating, etc. Just give them a call and they can update. I was lucky enough mine was the prototype for the project so they did the work. Which by the way they originally told me I would have to find a new head panel for inside the truck but they didn't even pull it back!

    NOTE:
THE TACOMA ACCESS CAB ROOF RACK SOLUTION DOES REQUIRE DRILLING AND INSTALLING RIVNUTS INTO YOUR FACTORY DRIP RAIL. THE LACK OF A FACTORY OPTION FOR A ROOF RACK MEANS THAT YOU DON'T HAVE MOUNT POINTS FOR ATTACHING YOUR NEW UPTOP RACK UNTIL YOU MAKE THEM. WE INCLUDE ALL THE REQUIRED HARDWARE FOR PERFORMING THIS MODIFICATION AND OUR TECHNICAL SUPPORT STAFF IS AVAILABLE FOR QUESTIONS AND TO ASSIST YOU DURING YOUR INSTALLATION.
