Ive never rented a tank but I always thought the tank was not tracked. I assumed it was a paper trail from the person who rented the tank that states the rentee owes the renter a tank, not specifically that tank. Are tank rentals done by a serial number?

I can do any miter joints if I am so inclined .

How do you define thick material 8"solid round bar or bigger ??

Myself I never sat there and timed how long it took.

Then I am not trying to set world record cutting speeds .

I am sure using different blades and feed pressure I could up the speed but Have no real need.

Any more it seems each distributor does things different.

Some all they care about is a good hydro test .

I think some Love getting cylinders for the competition

Some if the cylinder does not have one of their labels they will not touch it.

I swear some days it comes down to just which person is working

That small of a tank will always be privately owned. No business that leases tanks would deal with that small tank.

I would have no issue buying that rig.

Welder and tank included is a pretty good deal.

If you can get a test weld out of it, it's gonna be fine.

I started on a 120v rig and moved up. I sold the rig for $50 less than I paid.

    That's a great starter rig.

    Be honest.

Does this bracket look queer on this motor?

I had to raise the hood (trunk?) To clear the taller predator motor.PXL_20201026_223832073.jpg

    Damn!

Might just send it to the road naked then.

Not putting any money into an exhaust.

    It does run good.

It varies with the mood of the person at the gas place....

Small tanks are not immune from scrutiny. If there are no marks on the collar, you are better off.

I use this pretty cheap WEN bandsaw. I have cut a lot of stuff with it so far. I don't use any cutting lube and the blades still last a long time.

Well sure, 8" solid would classify as big in my book. In my (small) world, anything bigger than an 1/8" would be big since that's what I've mostly worked with so far. :) I don't envision myself cutting anything thick than 1/4". I cut through a schedule 80 2" pipe yesterday with my chop saw abrasive blade and it caught the dust bag on fire, which is the thickest I've cut so far (I measured it between 3/16 and 1/4" thick).

I'm going to look more into a bandsaw like this. I like the compact size (my garage is already maxed out) and it can be positioned vertically too, right? One of the previous posts mentioned the metal chips that fly out of an Evo, which has given me pause toward going that route.

If I could have only one tool to cut metal, excluding a cutoff, I'd go with a portable bandsaw. They're much more versatile than a chop saw or horizontal bandsaw.

Coolant/lubricant is definitely not a gimmick and is not a one size fits all. You'll notice a difference in cut quality/finish and tool life.

One of my favorite tools in the home garage/shop is the Milwaukee deep portaband band saw (corded) on the swag Offroad table. I use it multiple times a day 2606735C-D358-47EB-9904-58AABC8880D4.jpg

the evo is great for fast consistent cuts. I’d eventually like to get a bandsaw for vertical cuts but I can tell you for under $200 the evo is a million times better than an abrasive chop saw or an angle grinder. It can also cut wood if you get the multi blade so it can double as that as well. I don’t work with wood too often so it was the perfect fit for me because I do occasionally work with some lumber.

If one is not getting into larger size steel that you need a bigger capacity this would be a great set up. plus if you need to go to a friends place it is easy to take along.

Having the room for my Horizontal Band saw I only used my Portaband a few times since I sold the welding Truck

It all comes down to what your into doing.

Exactly. I have a bigger horizontal bandsaw for actual cutting material to length. But I love this thing for tabs, cutting smaller stock, any plastics, aluminum, etc

One of those tools I didn’t see a super huge need for until I had it, ha.

So is the hobart handler 140 a good machine? Can't find anything decently priced new so this seems like a good compromise
