We all were amateur(s) at one point. Some of us do it professionally. Although I'm not one of them, I've been working on and around those working on cars for a very long time. This job specifically I've done twice because of cheap cables.

That being said, I think I fed you with a pretty big spoon in post 25. Did I include every last minute detail, no. I didn't think it was necessary and it should be rather self-explanatory when you start digging into things.

Like I said, take your time and lay everything out that comes off as if you were building an exploded view drawing.

no worries dude. I wasn't asking how to take off each part of the rear brakes. I was wondering maybe somehow you could install a new wire without taking everything apart. Evidently not.

Pull the spring back and then slip the cable out of the arm.

Random question. The wheel cylinders.... Should fluid not leak out under any circumstances? A little fluid dripped out because I pushed it too far one way with all the shoes and stuff off.
If left alone like right now though it doesn't leak.

Wondering if I should maybe replace them.

If they weren't leaking before i'd gently push that side back in. Just don't push to far.

Or take it apart and replace seals.

    Or replace the entire thing.

    All easy. I think. Haha

You might want to bleed it when you are done.

If they're the original wheel cyls from 2006 then yes.. especially if you got one to drip putting the shoes back on

Okay folks I'm still at it! This truck is a can of worms. Wheel cylinder brake line was so rusted the whole line spun with the bolt. I probably could have been careful and got it off but said f it. I'll replace the rusty ass line.

Anyways going to have to undo the other brake fitting. How would you go about undoing it? I put my line wrench on it and it stripped it. (I need to buy a better quality line wrench). So its pretty much pliers time. What works best? Was thinking I would pickup an Irwin vice grip set.

Also is it okay to put anti sieze on the fittings or is that bad for the brake fluid?

Yikes! This looks like it could start leaking tomorrow. I’m thinking you need to replace all the brake lines.

I once had a kitchen remodel start out with a new faucet.

True. Toyota did almost all of the front lines with the frame. But not all of them. The line going to the other drum looks nasty as well.

I've had luck using vice grips. Work it back and forth; loosening and retightening and it should back out.
