Yup. And I have yet to get the mpg to where factory claims it to be which is 33 hwy. Best I could do is 31 running premium, 29-30 on midgrade. My commute is 100% hwy by the way. Factory recommends premium, but I havent had any pinging on name brand midgrade so I tend to use either.

It's less Tacoma and more mod
It adjusts timing based on the knock sensor, you'll never hear the knock. It'll get a slight vibration and immediately turn down to suit lower octane fuel, you just lose some performance and economy from running less spark advance.

Oh the Vtec actuator rattle? I heard it do it once after it sat for a few days and we had a bit of a cold snap. Never heard it again though, and its been much colder since. Some people say thicker oil helps prevent that too. Not really a huge issue until it goes on for a long time.

Yeah, AZ can see lots of dust, like what we had in Moab. Even driving around trails solo and there's a ton of dust. $135 and I can seal it up better than what they provide the parts for. And this one being low-pro, doesn't stick out as much as a traditional snorkel. Looks pretty good with it sort of hidden by the rack on that guys 4R.

Yeah, that's my thought too. I have his plans for building a low-pro roof rack too.

Can't wait to get a rack, just waiting to knock out other things first since I have no big camping trips coming up.

I honestly am not a huge fan of snorkel/dorkels and have been searching for a way to have a hidden one, maybe going into the cowl area. But the V8 airbox setup doesn't really make that easy.

There is one guy that ran a tube to the passenger compartment, cutting a hole INTO it, just behind the glove box. Totally hidden but there is intake noise that I'd rather not have.

I like the OG snorkel look on 1st gens, those more refined looking snorkels look better on more modern vehicles like the T4Rs and probably the new Tacomas

Yea the noise doesn’t sound very appetizing.
