How ya'll like the name of my new company? lol Here's my first foray into the roof rack/basket field. What ya'll think? I'm doin this one just for me but if there's interest I may consider manufacturing for ya'll too. Just gotta come up with a good mounting system now. Any ideas? I don't want it stickin way up in the air either. I'm thinkin some stainless plate waterjet'ed and cnc bent with a saddle lookin deal at the end for the tube to be cradled in and a bolt through.

Add more side support bars for looks, then paint it black and put some lights on it. So far looks good though.

I agree the angle on the front needs more rake toward the back and the line of the top needs to match the line of the cab of the truck.

Change the name of the company. Rack's is a possessive. It should be:

    River Bottom Racks <-- plural

Are you lookin at the pic of it on the floor or on the truck? I got 3 bars on each side and 2 in the back. And lights are comin. Got 4 HellaFF's I just need to convert em to HID. Thanks though!

Thats kind of an illusion because it isn't mounted yet it was just sitting up there. It's designed to be level when mounted.

    They comin don't worry lol.

Yeah theres a reason lol. Ease of welding and fitting. Probably wont do it next time though. Whats huffy?
Sho is. 50 ft of 3/4 EMT for $18 bucks. Seems like a good deal to me. lol

Idk yet I want to keep it light. I still have to put a few more tubes in the bottom for the floor. Just depends on how it looks and what I may end up puttin in it. Thanks for the comment!

Got 4 Hella FF's goin in it. And as far as mounting idk yet. Hopefully I can find a OEM roof rail kit and modify the crossbars to support it.

The hoop is at a slant so i can put a piece of Plexiglass or Lexan on the front for a fairing. The lights will be mounted vertically right behind it.
I would have slanted it more but one of my buds has a rack with the fairing on it and his is sloped back more like ur talking about. It actually distorts the light and makes the beam pattern real scattered out for some reason.

Hopefully mountin it on a factory rail system! lol

Is that a good thing or not?

Thats not what I was hoping lol.

i figured that was yer plan. some experience with pinched tubes proves them to be substantially less durable than a mitered tube with a quality weld. i worry about a certain degree of flex and weld life the way it sits now, specially with a load on a rough road or at hwy speeds for the long term. then again, if it hits a price point, you may be golden. just depends on yer target customer.

huffy was a american bicycle company who made a fortune building VERY low end bikes for low end consumers ($30-$80 sold in dpt stores) and made a fortune doin so till they closed up a few years ago. lots of pinched tubes, stamped pieces and spot welds. reputation, warranty, longevity and performance were not their goals, just production and sales numbers and they did that quite well. the shops ive run made a fortune off repairs and up sales.

Hmmm, you have some very valid points there. I was planning on coping all the joints when I went to build this but the drill press that holds my jig to cope em with went out and I was to impatient to wait so I just went on and pinched the ends with the press. I agree it doesn't look as good and i'm sure it loses some rigidity and durability. This was just kind of a test run and wont be on my truck long before I change some stuff up and build another one right. I appreciate the feedback. These were the kind of comments I was looking for.
