    Oh....well this just got awkward:help:

Can’t say I’ve really ever been on either side of the fence. The new stumpy is pretty tempting. It’s one of 4 on my ‘shortlist’
LBS finally let me know today that SWorks frames are showing late October/early November availability.

My manager things I'm crazy for riding to work when it's 45° outside. It's kind of refreshing actually - I'm only a mile away though so it's not bad. Is it winter yet?

I used to be pretty anti spesh and lbs. The longer I was in the sport and saw how much my lbs gave back to it all with trail work, events and advocacy. So, I started getting my bikes from them.

my most local bike shop is specialized and santa cruz. when I get the itch to find bike #2 one day I'm not sure what I'll choose.

also have another shop in town that is norco and kona, just farther from my house..

I really like my stumpy though.

Yea I’m a huge fan of buying from brick and mortar as much as possible. The owner of the spesh shop is a really nice guy and does a lot for the sport here.

That's great to hear! I've been considering a Ehline 2.3 rear + Honcho 2.4 front combo for the Spur, but I don't know many people running them. If you can, please let me know how they do on the trails.

Don't forget Southern Carnage, they sell Transition. Really good group of guys and definitely nothing like the shops in H-ville. I love their slogan, "Come buy a bike or some shit."

just found them, what in the heck how have I never heard of them?!

I am literally like .1 miles from Blevins though so...hard to pass them up...

but Transitions keep catching my eye for no good reason...

If there was a medium spur frame in stock anywhere, I’d be on one.

I’m too impatient to be bikeless for 6+ months though.

I'd go pick one up from Southern Carnage for you if they had one...then we could meet up for a ride.

I've had good experiences with Blevins' mechanics. Their stock of bikes leaves a lot to be desired but thats been my complaint about every bike shop in north Alabama. More so, its just a reflection of the demographics for their customers.

yeah I've had very good experience with Blevins. thankfully I got my bike pre-covid, and wasn't dead set on anything specific just had a budget and a goal. next bike will definitely be based more on what I WANT. but it may be years before that.

There's a good reason for it - they build badass bikes.

Don't hang onto your Stumpy too long or it will lose all value and increase your "buy in" to get back into a better/newer bike.

I use this argument with my wife about every two years and she falls for it every time. lol

Oh I love cold commuter rides. Keeps me from being...damp...when I get to the office, which is the worst feeling in the world. Having to put a dress shirt on when you're toasty and a little dewy...ew.

meh...I have absolutely 0 intention of selling my stumpy. I don't like to plan for that, or have a mindset of selling eventually, because then I won't use it how I want. I always end up being more careful and cautious/boring if I think that way.

if the time comes and I'm financially able to move to a better new bike, and the stumpy is "sell-able" I'd sell it.
