DIY Slide out shower curtain/awning frame

I like to repurpose things and try to keep the packing to a minimum. I was thinking if you had some of that cheap HF interlocking gym floor matting, and laid it on top of two of those recovery boards side by side on the ground you'd be out of the mud and have a soft place to stand.

 

I use my drivers side floor mat to stand on while showering.

I like your idea, definitely repurposing and saving packing space, but then my nice neat unused boards I have mounted for show will get all muddy!

Our next project: I am going to put some little folding legs on my bamboo shower mat to make a little table for a place to put down my chai pumpkin spiced foo foo beer. That’s repurposing!

 

A while back I got one of those instant-up "changing huts" that has a little side window where you can pass the shower head through. It's less than ideal, but it gets the job done if you are in a spot where you cant just bare-ass it to the world. I might have to reconsider though. Looks like your shower curtain mod gives quite a bit more elbow room.

 

These come in a double wide. I would need a double wide. That's how I know.

 

any pics of it with the curtain on? ive been mulling over a similar idea but seeing it with pvc makes it seem more attainable.

One thing to consider, if you use a tarp or any nicer shower curtain the weight of the water on it could add up quickly. Makes another good Pro for those support poles. Just thinking.......

 

Good Idea. I'd want support poles purely because I'm a bumblefuck and I know that sooner or later I would take out the whole contraption with a slip/trip.

 

You sound like me only I can see me wrapped in the curtain like a very large and lumpy taquito rolling down a hill outta camp

I just got the poles, they look great! Thanks for the suggestion, I think those will work very well.

 

Way cool. This design is definitely the way to go, the poles only help a great idea.

How are you going to ensure they stay at the corners? Is all your PVC sealed? If not, I bet you could just drill a hole in the 90 fitting on the corner. This could also be a drain hole for when you are not using this in the winter so the tubing doesn't fill up, freeze and possibly crack. I really like this whole setup! Great job!!!!!

I was just gonna use one of those short bungees with the large bead in it, put it down the pole wrap it up over the top of the pipe and clip it over the tip of the post above it. I’ll post a picture. As for freezing, I don’t think that’ll happen because the ends of the pipes are all open, but some small drain holes wouldn’t be a bad thing.

 

Yea, post a pic because you lost me with the beer thing. However, I don't mind saying that having a beer holder in the camp shower is intriguing. I know the wife would approve of that mod!
