Ok boys I booked us 3 spots in the overflow under my last name Kull 2 people per spot if others want to come I'd suggest making reservations now and get your name in there. When you arrive to check in at the camp office just tell them your reservation is under Kull and make sure they adjust the day for when you arrive for proper charging.

Cool! So I don't need to reserve a spot?

Generally I sleep in the bed, or if weather is bad and I don't have my topper just in the drivers seat, I assume there's nothing against such?

    Sweet man!

It's a heck of a drive but, I'm looking forward to it.

Anybody know if the TW Express needs any North South deliveries?

You guys are terrible influences... :pout:

Getting ready for my first "Rubicon" esque experience with y'all experienced folks for has me doing preventative maintenance and just double checking everything to make sure I'm good to go play hard and safe out of state without issue.

Reading up on threads here I came across a chart that shows my front suspension setup is less than ideal; Bilstein 5100's with OME 887 springs on the 2nd notch, I've run this for two years now with some light to moderate wheeling with no issues however the circlip that holds the bottom spring perch has always worried me to some degree given just how little engagement it has on the aluminum bodied shock but the 2nd notch was required for me in order to get the lift I needed to clear my tires.

Which is apparently strongly not recommended by Bilstein themselves as it turns out. Given the expected difficulty of the trails, I got concerned about my front suspension breaking on me while I was a 10 hours drive from home so I started looking at upgrades.

Over the past couple of days I've read probably far too many articles, threads, and videos from here, Accutune, and, other websites about upgrading Tacoma suspension, Fox vs King, spring rates, etc.

I decided as I really want to go play more often and go harder but I've always been concerned about my front shocks being my weak link that it was time to go all the way and get high end mid travel, I narrowed it down to either King or Fox shocks, I was leaning towards Kings, but ultimately purchased 880-06-418 Fox DSC Coilovers as they where what I was able to acquire within the time constraint before leaving for this trip, I'm sure I'll be happy with their performance regardless.

I tend to go overboard so my rig is loaded up on armor which would imply I should have at least 650lb coils, 700lb probably wouldn't hurt I like a firm ride, unfortunately given the last minute nature of the purchase I will have to roll with the original 600lb coils, which should be okay for this trip as the 887's are working and they're only 590lb.

Anybody know the maximum I can preload the Fox springs for 3" lift and highest weight capacity without coil bind or over stress? As I understand it I can measure from the top of the threaded body and or count the exposed threads? I want these to net me at least as much lift as my 5100's with 887's on the second notch.

    880-06-418.jpg

Looking forward to seeing y'all out there. :D

So those are going to have a 600lb spring the 887 are what a 640? You're going to need to preload them quite a bit.

887's are 590lbs and I have those apparently over pre loaded as Bilstein says any coils other than stock should be on the 1st notch.

I'll see of I can find that chart.

I know a bunch of people with them preloaded and no ill effects. But those Fox's will be good. You'll have to experiment with them and the preload for the lift.

@ovrlndkull Here's the lift/coil chart and doc that says it's bad ju-ju to have my 887's on notch 2, I've seen at least two threads of people blowing 5100's from either attempting too much lift with too much coil like 886's on the 2nd notch or 885's on the third, or something like that apparently what I have is in the not advisable but not necessarily dangerous zone.
