Highly recommend using a Dremel to grind out the transponder. It made pretty quick work of it and I managed to not destroy anything or require a trip to the ER.

I haven't look at my key, but would a heat gun work to loosen the glue holding the transponder chip? Or would doing that cook the chip also?

Spoke too soon, just took the truck for a spin and the buttons didn't work... I tested and tested before putting the key together and it worked fine but after a trip I locked it and wouldn't unlock again. then after hitting the unlock button a few times the alarm started to go off... and since the buttons didn't work I couldn't stop it. Started the truck, alarm stopped but when I shut the truck off the alarm started again.

    What did I mess up?

Most likely need to shave down some. I posted some tips a few pages back.

I think I read some have shaved down Meso’s button. I sanded the back of the OEM button housing.

Saw that, it will be my next step. Will replace the battery too just to be safe. I just hope i didn't mess up my transponder with the hack job I did on the key.

Yes. I used a combo of heat and careful cutting to get it out and not destroy my old key as I would like to get three working.

Just take your time, if you sand down too much, the buttons will be “loose”

If your Taco started (not just sit and spin on the starter), then the transponder is good to go.

If you can remove and wind up the spring again and keep it to the side it'll help but. What I would suggest is disassembly of the unit, try each button in the case alone, test fitting the case fully screwed together and see if the button it tight or lose. Adjust each button nub as needed to get it feeling right (a decent press needed to activate and not just breathing will set it off, but not so much you gotta hulk your thumb through it to work it either) then reassemble all the buttons as a whole (without key still) and test the functions.

One button may be off enough to cause an issue with one nearby. Worth a shot, I had to do this as my unlock was messing with my alarm button a bit.

Once it's all good, just pop the key back in and you should be golden.

Got the buttons sorted, the panic was too tight... but I also shaved the unlock and now its too loose. But my biggest probelm now is getting that spring to go back together. The video on the website says turn counterclockwise... but that doesn't work the key doesn't move. Turning clockwise worked better but the key wont flip up.... Im losing my mind here.

Went to a locksmith and fixed the fob Home Depot cut. The second fob needed to be cut and programmed. Transponder worked but the remote wouldn’t take to the truck so he gutted an OEM fob for me. $60, not too bad IMO.

Yup, got it sorted I was pressing down and turning at the same time, gotta just turn gently. And not too far, just 180 degrees otherwise the spring gets bent. Ask me how I know...

Ordered the red buttons. Still haven't received my key orders. I really hate the USPS. That snow storm we had was minimal. Not sure why it delayed everything by a couple more days.
