    So are you wanting to swap out your Japan made for USA made LTs? I'd probably keep the ones you have due to the lower weight over the heavier USA ones anyway. 99.999% of people won't know the difference or care. But I guess that 0.001% (you) is all that matters in the end :)

    Correct. I'm already a little worried going from a 3ply to 2ply sidewall, more meat the better IMO. Beyond that, they just look so bleh. Part of the reason for me trying these was that their advertisements were touting an aggressive sidewall.

    After a few drives on the new tires, they are quite, comfortable, and I would definitely recommend them! Will get to try them out in the snow within the next few weeks so I'll post up my thoughts then.

    I'm so confused I'm not even sure anymore if that aligns with what is expected...

    Also wasn't one of them (the BSW?) double-sided and the other side was more aggressive? If you flip it around is it the same?

    Not to derail from the crucial aggressive sidewall discussion, but I've now put a couple thousand miles on mine (265/75r16 in SL) after getting a good deal on TireBuyer including ~8 days of variously rocky, wet, sandy, and steep offroad trails, sometimes aired down.

    Super happy with these, can't say much about road noise since my truck is loud in the cab regardless of tires, but they feel great at 75 on the highway (only tested on dry roads because desert), they've held up to the rocks, and they've always found traction in sand and mud. Even wear although that probably has more to do with the alignment and balance.

    Was worried I'd regret not going LT especially because I've heard the AT2s were prone to punctures but so far it hasn't been a problem and I'm sure my 4 banger is happy with the lighter weight.

    For the 10,000 time, there is a extra line down the middle of the sidewall pattern that Toyo calls the "more agressive" side.

    The main issue being discussed is the sidewall pattern Thickness between Japan made vs USA made LT rated tires. USA made have much thicker/beefier sidewall pattern over the Japan made which looks a lot better (aka "more aggressive").

    Go back and look at the pictures and it will be clear...

    Since you have it down, why don't you make a master post with a matrix of some kind that lists rating, country of origin, side of tire, number of plys, "aggressiveness", etc.? And then you can link to the pictures, because they are spread out over 32 pages of this thread. Then OP can update the first post and you can direct poor, confused people such as myself to that post.

    Or maybe it would be nice if the company would just sell a single known product under a name and not make you guess/hope that you get the one you want or have to deal with debating the finer points with a installation company and have them track down the "right" ones?

    The tires have great reviews and I am heavily considering them for my upgrade next spring/summer, but if I don't know what I'm getting until I order them (at $800+) and they arrive at the tire shop, I might end up skipping them and going with a more known option.

    I completely agree they screwed this up. Not having exactly the same sidewall look across the range is highly confusing and misleading and will ultimately piss people off to the point of loosing sales because of it.

    That being said, while I'd like to have the thicker sidewall look on my Japan made SLs, after driving on them, I'm super happy with how they drive and would not change to another tire just because of that.

    The "XT" designation of the A/TII seemed to work well, not sure why they turned the A/TIII into such a clusterfuck :der:

    Went up to my local ski hill this weekend. Roads were plowed but still had quite a bit of compact snow on them. I was able to leave it in 2wd for 95% of the time (I don't have any weight in the back)! Don't think I could have done that with my 2.5 year old General Grabber ATPs these Toyo's replaced.

    They felt just as good/grippy in snow to a new set of LT Duratracs that I had before.

    Thanks for sharing this! Been eager to hear how they do in the snow. I love my duratracs in the snow but want to try a newer tire design/tech so this is very encouraging.

    Time for new tires, staying with stock size, 265/65r17. Can 265/70r17 fit on a oe vehicle without rubbing or abnormal wear?

    Yes, from everything I've seen and read here on TW, 265/70R17 and 265/75R16 should fit on stock suspension without rubbing.

    Been driving on Toyo Open Country AT III for my 2017 Pro for six months now. Tires performed excellent over the summer in monsoon like rains here in Florida. Really impressed with these Toyo's...super grippy on dry and wet pavement, road noise isn't noticeable, zero hydroplaning issues.

    I originally wanted the BFG KO2s called a dozen places nobody had them in stock, I was told the factory has been limited capacity due to covid constraints, many years of success with those on my old 4Runner and local shop recommended the Open Country IIIs 265/60R18 Just got them installed on my limited and couldn't be happier. Will u/d after I get a few snow storms. Super stoked to upgrade from my factory Michellin LTXs (great all season just wanted a set of ATs). Thoughts on these guys on the limited?

    Did a search through the thread and didn't see anything....anyone running the 35X11.50R17LT size? It's not a super skinny but it's still pretty slim. Allegedly it measures 34.5" which would make it a nice size for people who want a big tire but don't want to hack up EVERYTHING on their Tacoma. Right now I'm on the BFG 34/10.5/17 (which measures just about 33.25" IRL) so I'm wondering if this will be just a weeee bit taller; which is what I'm looking for.
