What kind of stuff are you running?[/QUOTE]
We're normally 5 or 6 operators on per shift, depending on rotation or weekend, etc.. and I second that regarding the cold. I hate Winter and Summer, but Spring and Fall, shit runs like a swiss watch for the most part (knocks on table)

We run Air Compressors from 1000hp to our biggies at 35k HP each. Refrigeration units to cool the air streams after compression.
NLU (Nitrogen Liquifier) compressors and compressor/expanders, cooling towers, pumps etc..but all from a remote location. I think we're at 28 facilities at last count.
We operate distillation columns with the feeds, which usually get sent right to liquid storage for distribution. We also have direct feed plants where we vaporize O2/N2 for specific pipeline applications (oil/gas/methane production..steel mill furnaces etc) Those are the fun ones.. NOT.

I've got one in Houston that sends 1250psig GOX into a facility that blends it with..

    HYDROGEN.
and there's a huge neighborhood like a half mile from the plant.

Nothing like a scare at one of those to tighten the sphincter.
No wonder I have gray hair.

I planning on hitting a few trails with some friends, breaking my work week sobriety and making the wife realize that she didn't miss me as much as she thought she did:rofl:After all that, I'll spend some quality time with the puppy.

It certainly is. The last 3 years, it's gotten really bad with 'do more with less' and 'oh, the operators can help with that..'

I'll say this, we typically don't have to worry too much about job security and we can't seem to keep people. Especially younger folks..most just don't seem to care about a steady income.

    I dunno..

Besides the long hours, it's a good living. We're the some way. Always getting more and more on our plates. One of these days it's going to bite them. You can only watch some many things at once and you can only be one place at a time. I have almost 40 miles between the plants on the outskirts. I put about 150 miles a night on my work truck.

We just had a couple inches Sunday/Monday. Was cold as hell all week, too.
Now we're gonna have highs in the 60s this weekend.
